St Joseph’s School Religious Education Program
This year our school has been part of a planning and review process in order to implement the Brisbane Archdiocesan RE curriculum. Recently, members of our staff presented our new Religious Education Program to a panel of BCE personnel and RE teachers from other Catholic schools. Our RE Program was validated and was regarded as being a high quality RE program. In Term 1 of 2017, more information about our RE Program will be presented to our community.
Lost property We have a number of lost property items that need collecting. If your child is missing anything, please check the lost property located in the red and blue bins in the undercover area. 2017 Sports/Formal Uniform Update It is predicted that the sports uniform will continue to be worn on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday in 2017. Parents might consider this before purchasing new sports and formal shirts. A reminder that Direct Garment Printing Group (local business in town) are the sales agent for our new school uniforms. Pre-loved uniforms With a large number of enquiries from families wishing to purchase good quality pre-loved uniforms, the P&F are finding the stock on hand is dwindling rapidly. If you have no further use for any of your children's uniforms (sports or formal), the P&F will gladly receive them. These may be dropped in to the school office at your convenience. The office will be open for the week after the students finish (5th December-9th December). The sale of pre-loved uniforms will be available from the Tuckshop on Monday November 21st 3pm-4pm. All items are $5 with proceeds raised going to the P&F. Another sale date will be set for the beginning of the new school year if stock allows.
Pasta Night at Sacred Heart On 3rd December, First Saturday of the month, the Parish will be hosting a Pasta Night following 6pm Mass. As this is Children’s Liturgy Night, St Joseph’s students and parents are invited to join the parish community to a quiet evening before the Christmas rush. St Vincent de Paul Christmas Hampers Our “Vinnie’s Christmas Appeal” was launched today. The appeal will run for the next two weeks. A list of suggested items has been included with the newsletter. A basket labelled “Vinnie’s Christmas Appeal” has been placed in each classroom and donations can be added to the basket during the coming weeks. We thank you for your support and look forward to creating wonderful Christmas hampers to bring happiness and joy to families in our local community this Christmas. Suggested Hamper List
Swimming The cost of swimming lessons, conducted through the Isis pool with qualified swimming instructors, are a part of the annual levy. Swimming lessons will occur over the final two weeks of the school year. Please remember to pack your child’s swimmers, a swim shirt, towel and goggles (if necessary). A school swimming cap and sunburn cream will be provided.

Mayor of Vignacourt Visits St Joey’s Last Wednesday we welcomed the Mayor of Vignacourt, Monsieur Stephane Ducrotoy, and his wife, Natalie, to our school. During his visit he presented a speech about the great friendship that is developing between the Childers' schools and his desire to see this friendship to continue to grow. It was a fabulous experience for our students to hear the Mayor deliver his speech in French, which was translated into English by an interpreter. We exchanged gifts, sang together both the Australian and French national anthems, and then the children sang 'An Irish Blessing' for them. During the ceremony, Monsieur Ducrutoy and Liam Dougherty signed a Friendship Agreement between our school and the Vignacourt Primary School. We will be getting this framed and hanging it in our front office. If you would like to know more about the Vignacourt and Bundaberg Region relationship, there is a great display currently in the Childers Public Library.
