Background knowledge on the specification Daimler MB 236.16 and MB 236.17

First an oil was developed for this new generation of automatic transmissions. This oil complied with the specifications of the MB standard 236.16 with the original part number A 001 989 92 03.

However, in practice, when using the transmission daily, it showed that there was yet room for improvement regarding the existing ATF fluid. As a result of this research a new ultra low viscosity oil was developed [with an even lower viscosity level].

After conducting test stand, laboratory and field tests RAVENOL ATF M 9-G Serie has been approved by the Daimler AG for the use as a primary and service fill for the 9-gear automatic transmissions 9G-Tronic by Mercedes-Benz and received the official MB approval 236.17, which corresponds to the original oil with the part number A 002 989 06 03.

RAVENOL ATF M 9-G Serie must not be used in older generations of the Mercedes Benz 5 and 7-gear automatic transmissions. Here an automatic transmission oil according to MB standard MB-Norm 236.10, 236.12, 236.14 or 236.15 is specified. INFORMATION ON THE TRANSMISSION

The automatic transmissions NAG3 have been produced since September 2013 and are built into the cars of the E-class W212 E350 BlueTec with the engine OM 642.852.

SINCE SEPTEMBER 2014 THE 9-GEAR AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSIONS ARE ALSO INSTALLED IN THE MODELS:

C-class / X218 with the engines: OM642 LS, OM651, M278C-class / A207 with the engines: OM642, OM651E-class W/S212 with the engine: OM651

In addition, since September 2015 all Mercedes-Benz vehicles Type C292 are equipped with these transmission types, except AMG models.

RAVENOL ATF M 9-G Serie

RAVENOL ATF M 9-G Serie was specially developed for the first fill during series production for 9-gear automatic transmissions of the Series W9A 700 by Mercedes-Benz. The transmissions are also known as NAG3 (Neues Automatik Getriebe [New Automatic Gear 3rd generation) with the type 725.011.

RAVENOL ATF M 9-G Serie is designed based on synthetic base oils with a special selection of additives and inhibitors that guarantee the prefect functioning of the automatic transmission.

RAVENOL ATF M 9-G Serie is an ATF (Automatic-Transmission-Fluid) of the newest generation for all 9-gear automatic transmissions (9G -Tron ic) f o r veh ic l es b y Mercedes-Benz. It guarantees maximum wear protection in every operating status.
