    Dear Families

    Tomorrow is Walk to School Day and amap was sent home yesterday indicating

    the meeting points. We encourageparents, particularly of those of youngerstudents, to join in the walk as it is an

    opportunity to discuss road safety, safewalking routes and get to know theneighbourhood. Hopefully, families willchoose to walk when it is convenientrather than driving to and from school allthe time.

    PREP 2014 New families to St Markscan collect enrolment forms from theschool office.New family Applications close 31st May2013.If you are a current family and have notput in a Prep Enrolment form yet pleasedo so now.

    Letters of offer for all enrolments will besent out before 28th June 2013. Pleasenote that for current parents only this

    letter, while needing to be returned, isonly a formality as siblings are given firstpriority to places.

    SCHOOL OFFICE There will be limitedservices in the school office nextThursday 30th May due to Vicki and Judyat Admin Officer ProfessionalDevelopment Day.

    SCHOOL CLOSURE DAY FRIDAY 26TH

    JULY Julia Atkin has just confirmed oursecond PD day. The staff will be focusing

    on Learning to Think, Learning to Learnand how this relates to the General

    Capabilities which are part of the newAustralian Curriculum. This topic is a

    continuation from the previous curriculumday.

    ROAD SAFETY A reminder to parents todiscuss road safety with their childrenespecially those that ride bikes, scooters

    etc. We have had a number of reportsrecently of children nearly being hit bycars because the children are not taking

    notice of other road users.

    WOOLWORTHS EARN & LEARNPlease remember to collect your stickersfrom Woolworths and remind relativesand friends that they can contribute as

    well.

    APPLICATONS TO GOVERNMENTSECONDARY SCHOOLS FOR 2014 -Applications for Year 6 students who wish

    to attend a Government SecondarySchool in 2014 are now available fromthe school office. These applicationsmust be completed and returned to St

    Marks for processing.Please ensure your Year 6 child has aschool booked for Year 7 in 2014.

    NEWS FROM THE RECSacrament of Eucharist Online Massbooking sheets were sent home last

    week. This form is also available on theSt Marks website and from tiq biz.Bookings will be open from Monday,

    20th May and will close Friday 9thAugust.

    CHILDRENS LITURGY NEWS

    Every Sunday at 9:30am mass childrenfrom Prep to Year 6 are invited to join in

    Childrens Liturgy at St Marks Church. Atthe liturgy children come to hear theword of God and participate in a varietyof activities that make them reflect onthe gospel story. This is a wonderfulopportunity for the children to cometogether and share their prayers andfeelings about Jesus. A special invitationis extended to the Year 5/6 children whomay like to be assistant leaders. Theyhave the opportunity to work with theyounger members of our church

    community.Each session begins at the start of massin the hall and lasts for around 25-30minutes. If any Year 5/6 children areinterested in being leaders could theyplease see Mr Davies, Deputy Principal.We look forward to seeing new children

    at Childrens liturgy during the year.

    SACRED HEART LITURGY There will bea whole school liturgy on Friday 7 th June

    at 11.40a.m. and all families arewelcome.We will also be collecting good qualityused household items (not food) for

    donation to the local St Vincents de Paulwho will then distribute them to theneedy. The collection will be from

    Tuesday 4th June to Friday 7th Juneand goods are to be placed in theparent room.Suggestions for donations are attached to

    the newsletter.

    Week Ending 24th May 2013

    FOOD TECHNOLOGY RECIPE

    CHOCOLATE CHIP BISCUITS

    Ingredients:

    125g butter, softened cup brown sugar cup castersugar

    1 egg1 teaspoon vanilla1 cups self raising flour1 cup milk chocolate chips

    Method:

    1. CREAM together butter and sugars until light and fluffy.Whisk in egg and vanilla.

    2. Stir in flour then fold through Chocolate Chips.3. PLACE teaspoonfusl on greased baking trays.4. Bake in a moderately slow oven 160C for 10-15 minutes or

    until cooked.5. Cool on a wire rack.
