WEEK 1
JOYCE MEYER: “SURRENDER” (2012) As Christians, we can be in a relationship with God that looks more like dating than marriage. We trust in ourselves, stand in ankle-deep water, and look to God only when a need arises. God wants a deeper relationship with us, though. He calls us to surrender, to leave the shore of self-reliance for the deep waters of godly trust.
• If you think of the word “surrender” what thoughts come to mind?
• What do you think about the phrase:
‘We need to be married to Jesus, not just dating him’?
• Does surrendering to God mean being
dominated or giving up your will? What kind of surrender do you think God is seeking?
• Do you find it hard to give God control of your life? Why? Why not?
• Describe a time where you surrendered a
situation to God and then saw him do something amazing?
• What benefits come with surrendering to God? Can you describe some of these from your own life?
