President Report : Lincoln Land Strong! Sure has been a while since you heard that phrase. Thank you all for your overwhelming support and vote in the Presidential election. I am looking forward to serving the chapter and will strive for success. I have several ideas to project us into the future and will be looking for fresh ideas from the membership. I would like to thank the outgoing officers for their time and dedication. I would also like to thank each of the new officers for stepping up to the plate to serve. Some of us have a crisp new slate with a winning attitude as well as the officers that are still working hard to make the chapter even better than the year before. A big round of applause for all of them. I will be looking forward to addressing the membership in January about details of where we are headed this year and where we can improve. If we can raise the attendance and interest about who is running for President of the chapter with nearly 90 members present, then there is enough interest that should bring you back to see where this trip is going to lead us. Many of my ideas are for better organization with other details to cover promoting our meetings and recruiting from areas of younger clientele. Some areas of importance will cover more events and fun together all while continuing the fight for our rights. Let's put our heads together and keep the ship headed in the right direction and focus on Membership, Legislation and the promotion of our chapter to broaden our horizons. Let's make this a year to remember.

Chapter News:

Elections: In December, the chapter elected…

President: Dwayne “Rudedog” Rudolph Activities: Tammy Panting

Vice-Prez: Robbie Pollard Legislatrive: Josh “Ski” Witkowski

Secretary: Julie Rowden Treasurer: Paul Truax

Srg-at-Arms: Eric Allard, George Hurst

Chapter Calendars: Our Chapter Calendar Girl is Melissa. She brought the idea to the Officers in the

Spring. She got the full support of Membership in June, gathered sponsors, models and with the help

of Ski, a few motorcycles. She took photo, edited, met with the Printer and created the 2020 Chapter

Calendar for Lincoln Land ABATE. This is a fundraiser, so calendars will be sold. Any left after the

end of the sale will be destroyed. Chapter members can take a bundle up to 6 calendars to sell. Call

Ski for details 217-816-2646. Further information is on page 6.

Justin Heath Ride: Samantha Clardy wants to coordinate on the Justin Heath Memorial Ride for

2020. Recommend having it on the Saturday of the Freedom Rally Weekend

Pre-Party to Freedom Rally: See Page 6 of this newsletter for details. On the first weekend of May,

State ABATE will be hosting their parade from IDOT to the Capitol. On the evening before, our chap-

ter will be hosting the Pre-Party. Details to be announced next spring.

Letter to Santa: The Board is working on the 2020 Chapter Budget by creating a ‘Dear Santa letter to

detail ongoing efforts, sponsorships, event support and all the major efforts of 2020. At the December

meeting, we voted to give $100 to the ABATE Trailer fund, $200 to the STEEL Hospitality Room and

$250 to the STEEL Banner. Each of these funds have a deadline of December 31. At the January

Meeting, we shall decide on additional donations to various funds within ABATE of Illinois and it’s affili-

ated organizations.

ABATE STEEL: This private Party deserved your attention. Both the Northfield Center and the

Ramada across the street will be sold out as soon as reservations are opened on December 1. Mix a

little of State Party with training sessions for chapter officers and don’t plan on good sleeping patterns

till Monday. Thank goodness Monday is a holiday for some. For Springfield area residents who can-

not get their RSVP in quick enough, please UBER, call a friend or be sober.

State Swap Meet is moving to a week earlier. This is a strategic move to no longer share the week-

end with larger shows and Daytona 500 Parties. Additional vendors have already scheduled to attend.

217 Dinner has meetings on the Second Tuesday of the Month at 6:00 PM in the back room of Gold-

en Corral. The meetings are open to all who want to help with the Homeless Dinner at the Cathedral.

A special Happy New Year to the MC’s who attended the December meeting. This includes: Leather-

necks, Christian Motorcycle Assn, American Harley Express, Leather and Lace, Band of Brothers and

Steel Justice. We look forward to seeing all the MC’s announcing their public events at our meetings.

Heartland STEAM—April 3-4, 2020 at the Northfield Center in Springfield, IL. This weekend is simi-lar to STEEL with seven area states invited to talk Motorcycle Issues. Illinois is hosting this year. The Northfield Center will be bikers only. The Ramada will be sold-out as well. Event shirts will be available. Meeting of the Minds—will be held September 24-27th in the Indianapolis, IN area. Similar to STEEL and STEAM, this has more of a national and international feel. Events shirts will be availa-ble. The Washington DC based Motorcycle Riders Foundation (MRF) is chiefly concerned with issues at the national and international levels that impact the freedom and safety of American street motor-cyclists. MRF is committed to educating rights advocates to improve effectiveness at the state and local levels. The MRF works together with State Motorcyclists’ Rights Organizations (SMROs), as-sisting them with state and local agendas as well as working with them to influence Washington, DC – from the Congress to government departments and agencies to the Office of the President of the United States. We also work with allies in Europe and Asia to influence talks on vehicle globalization and harmonization that are proceeding under the United Nations and the World Health Organization (WHO). We have an historic partnership with the American Motorcyclist Association and work with the AMA on a host of issues. Lincoln Land ABATE and ABATE of IL have sponsored MRF for many years. ABATE of IL has an official MRF Rep at each of their meetings. Individual dues are $35/yr, $95/3yrs.

Lincoln Land ABATE is one of the few A.B.A.T.E. of Illinois chapters with their own chapter specific shirts and hoodies. Due to ordering requirements, these products may be history in the years to come. They are available in 2020. The chapter inventory of pins, patches and bumper stickers make Lincoln Land rather unique among all chapters.
