Welcome Kindergarten Class of 2016
returned, we assume
parents are happy for
their child to continue
as per 2016.
Our first week for 2017
ended with much ex-
citement as the Primary
students took part in a
wonderful day of swim-
ming. Congratulations
to all who took part, the
winners who will go
onto Narrabri and the
organising staff and par-
ents who put on a great
day. In particular, I want
to thank Mrs Baird for
her organisation of the
day and her thoughtful-
ness in allowing the stu-
dents to have frequent
swim breaks in the pool
during the day to beat
the heat.
This week sees many of
our programs restart.
The visiting Occupation-
al and Speech Therapy
programs are underway
with assessment of our
new students happening
this week. Parents will
be contacted about
their children partici-
pating in either of these
programs. Attached to
the newsletter is infor-
mation about the scrip-
ture classes run each
week by the local clergy.
Please complete and
return the form if you
do not want your child
to take part in scripture
lessons this year. If not

Homework in 2017
This is a contentious issue, which came to a head for staff when as few as 10% of students in each class were regularly com-
pleting homework in 2015. After discussion between staff and the P&C the following protocol was developed and imple-
mented in 2016. It will continue in 2017.
Home reading
Home reading is expected and is being encouraged by all staff. Infants classes will have a home reading program set up
ALL children are encouraged to borrow books from the library
Homework
Only those parents who agree to ensuring their children will complete homework will have it forwarded each week.
Non return of homework for 3 consecutive weeks will see a child removed from the homework program and the parents will be notified by the class teacher.
Please complete the homework note when the classroom teachers send home their class newsletter this week and return it to your child’s class teacher to begin receiving homework.
This includes parents, friends
and older siblings who are de-
livering lunches etc
Thank you for your under-
standing and we look forward
to seeing you at the office!
Thank you to all of our won-
derful volunteers who come
each week to help with read-
ing groups and other activities.
Please remember that ANY-
ONE who enters the school
grounds for any reason must
sign in at the office.
Pots Needed
Some of our lovely parents are busy potting up plants
to sell at our 2017 fete. If you have any pots spare can
you please drop them into the school. Thank you for
your help!
