STATE TIMES NEWS POONCH/RAJOURI: Army conducted 'Basic Mountaineering Course' for ten boys belonging to remote areas of Poonch and Rajouri District from 25 Jul to 21 Aug 18. The course was con- ducted under the aegis of Jawahar Institute of Mountaineering and Winter Sports, Sonamarg (J&K). Apart from basic moun- taineering skills the specials training was imparted to enhance their skills in rock climbing, rappelling, abseiling, rope craft and snow craft. The course was attended by 80 partici- pants hailing from other parts of the coun- try which gave these boys an exposure to adventure tourism industry. The interac- tion with the participants from other parts of the country also enhanced their confi- dence and increased their awareness. This being a recognised course, the youth were provided a certificate of specialization on termination of the course. On being flagged in at Keri all partici- pants were exuberant while sharing their experiences of past four weeks with their relatives and friends. They thanked the army for organising such a unique event which apart from giving them an exposure of mountaineering skills provided opportunity to visit beautiful and scenic places around Pahalgam. STATE TIMES NEWS SAMBA: District Development Commissioner, Sushma Chauhan chaired a meeting of District Level Review Committee (DLRC) for the quarter ended June 2018 to review the perform- ance of banks in respect of achievements under Annual Credit Plan 2018-19 besides taking stock of position of Deposits, Advances and CD Ratio. The DDC entrusted upon the concerned functionaries to increase the CD ratio by developing better coordina- tion and cooperation between major banks and government departments. She further asked the Chief Agriculture officer for ensur- ing 100 per cent coverage of KCC in co-ordinations with bankers. The DDC stressed on the need of holding Financial Literacy camps in collabora- tion with Banks and govern- ment departments under inti- mation to chairperson on reg- ular basis and further asked the banks to utilize these camps for creating awareness among the people about the financial literacy, PMEGP, housing for all, Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojna, 100 per cent coverage under KCCs, Prime Minister's New Social Security Schemes, Pardhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana and other such schemes. The DDC asked the officials to draft an inclusive strategy to support and motivate the new entrepreneurs and guide them towards a financial viable business opportunities. "Efforts need to be made to boost the small scale indus- tries in the district", she added. The DDC further asked Lead Bank to prepare a cal- endar for organising product specific camps like Financial Inclusion, Housing Loan Melas, Education fairs, MSME seminars and manh alike to spread awareness among specific target groups. The meeting also had a detailed review of all the gov- ernment sponsored schemes with special focus on PMEGP Schemes. The DDC further stressed on evaluation of banks on scoring model. She advised the sponsoring agencies to educate educated, motivated and facilitated more people to undertake self employment activities. The other officers who attended the meeting were CPO, LDO RBI, DDM NABARD,Cluster head, District Coordinators of JK Bank, PNB, JKGB, EDB, and representatives other Banks and concerned officers from various government departments. STATE TIMES NEWS KATRA: The School of Physics at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU) Katra, organised an expert lecture by Prof. P. K Sen on the topic titled, 'Lasers and Semiconductor Nanaphotonics'. Prof. Sen, HoD, Applied Physics at SGSITS, Indore is an emi- nent academician who has more than 150 published research papers in his credit. Furthermore, the professor has guided twenty two PhD candidates in various fields of Physics. During the talk, Prof. Sen discussed the aspects of the fabrication and application of nanostructures and devices that help to understand or harness and utilise the behaviour of light. The wise physicist has deliv- ered more than 50 invited talks across and outside India on topics, such as Laser Physics, Nonlinear Optics, Semiconductor Nano- Technology, and alike. The interactive talk was attended by the faculty members and research students. Prof. A. K. Sharma, HoD, Physics at SMVDU presented a vote of thanks to Prof. Sen for spar- ing the valuable time and for the words of wisdom. Army celebrates World Senior Citizens Day STATE TIMES NEWS POONCH : Army celebrated 'World Senior Citizen Day' at Daraba, Youth Centre, Jeran Wali Gali (JWG), Mendhar, Jhullas, Thanamandi, Keri and Govt Middle School, Relan in Poonch and Rajouri Districts. The aim of the event was to provide an opportunity to recognise and appreciate the contribution of senior citi- zens towards nation build- ing, upliftment of the society and spread awareness of ini- tiatives by the central and state Govt for the welfare of senior citizens. The course was attended by 80 partici-pants hailing from other parts of the coun-try which gave these boys an exposure toadventure tourism industry. The interac-tion with the participants from other partsof the country also enhanced their confi-dence and increased their awareness. Thisbeing a recognised course, the youth wereprovided a certificate of specialization ontermination of the course.

On being flagged in at Keri all partici-pants were exuberant while sharing theirexperiences of past four weeks with their

relatives and friends. They thanked the army for organising such a

unique event which apart from giving them anexposure of mountaineering skills providedopportunity to visit beautiful and scenic placesaround Pahalgam.

The DDC asked the officialsto draft an inclusive strategyto support and motivate thenew entrepreneurs and guidethem towards a financialviable business opportunities.

The DDC further askedLead Bank to prepare a cal-

endar for organising productspecific camps like FinancialInclusion, Housing LoanMelas, Education fairs,MSME seminars and manhalike to spread awarenessamong specific target groups.

The meeting also had adetailed review of all the gov-ernment sponsored schemeswith special focus on PMEGPSchemes.
