2 Hardware Description and Hardware Installation
2.1 Hardware Description
2.1.1 Front Panel and LED Indicator Status
The indicators on the front panel of the CNU device indicate the status of
interfaces. You may solve the network problem by observing their status.
The front panel contains 5 indicators, including POWER, Ethernet (ETH1 and
ETH2), LINK, and DIAG. The indicators reflect the connection status of the power
supply, Ethernet, coaxial cable and physical link quality. See the following figure:

2.3 Before You Install the CNU Device
Carefully open the package and verify that the items match the packing list. If
any item is lost or damaged, contact us or the local cable network company.
Ensure that all required tools and cables are ready. Please place the CNU device
on the desk or other planes with enough space.
Before you install the CNU device, please verify the appropriate running
conditions for the device installation, including power requirement, physical space
and other network devices. The installation requirements are as follows:
Input power requirement: 180V~220V AC/50Hz
Please put the CNU device in a dry, shady and cool place, and at least leave
enough space on each side for ventilation
The CNU device should avoid direct sunshine. Put the CNU device in an area
that is far away from the heat source and high electromagnetism interference
Please make sure that the required cables and linkers have been installed
2.4 Connecting the CNU Device
The CNU device includes 1 cable interface, 1 TV interface, 2 10/100 M
adaptive Ethernet interfaces, 1 power interface (12V DC) and 1 power switch.
2.4.1 Connecting RJ45 Interface
Use Cat. 5 Ethernet cables with RJ-45 connectors at both ends to connect theCNU device to computer, set top box, or other network devices that you want to
connect to the network. Please ensure that your computer and the relevant devices
have installed 10BASE-T or 100BASE-TX network interface card. Connect one end
of the cable to the RJ45 interface of the network interface card, and the other end
to the RJ45 Ethernet interface of the CNU device. When inserting the RJ45
connector into the interface, a sound of insertion indicates the RJ45 connector is
connected properly.

Note:
Do not insert the telephone connector into any RJ45 interface. In that case,it will damage the CNU device. You must use the twisted pair that meets the
FCC standard.
2.4.2 Connecting the Cable Interface
Please use the standard cable with metric F connectors. Connect one end of
the cable to the interface for inputting TV signal, and the other end to the Cableinterface of the CNU device. When inserting the connector into the interfaces,
screw down the connectors and make sure that the connectors are connected
correctly and tightly.
2.4.3 Connecting the TV Interface
Use the coaxial cable to connect the TV set or the set top box to the TV
interface of the CNU device. Please screw down the connectors and make sure
that the connectors are connected correctly and tightly.
2.4.4 Connecting the Power Adaptor
The CNU device supports Hot Swap of RJ45 and coaxial cable interfaces.
When connecting the power adapter, please ensure the input voltage matches the
power adaptor.
Step 1 Connect one end of the power adapter to the power interface of the CNU
device, and the other end to the power socket.
Step 2 Turn on the power switch.
Step 3 Check whether the indicator on the front panel is on.
You can run the CNU device without the driver.
2.5 Check the System Running Status

Please verify that all linked devices have established valid connections. The
CNU device monitors the connection status of interfaces. If any device has
correctly connected to the CNU device and is transmitting a connecting signal, the
corresponding indicator blinks. If a device connects to the CNU device and the
indicator does not light, please check the following items:
Please ensure that all the network cables, linkers, network devices are
correctly connected to the CNU device
When connecting cables to another network, please check the available
interfaces and the linked devices, to verify whether the relevant devices run
normally
The twisted-pair is not more than 100 meters (328 feet), and the coaxial cableis not more than 500m
3 Application
This chapter mainly describes the network application of the CNU device.
The transmission frequency range of the CNU device is 7.5MHz~30MHz. If thecoaxial network where the CNU device runs does not provide the dedicated
channel for transmitting data, you must check the transmission frequency of data
and the TV signal to avoid their interference. Although the CNU device provides
built-in duplex filter.
3.1 Using Coaxial High-pass/Low-pass Duplex Filter
The range of signal transmission frequency in the coaxial cable is
7.5MHz~30MHz. If the frequency interference occurs in this range, the signal of
other application services will be interfered. Therefore, a filter is needed to solve
the problem.
It is recommended that you use the filter on the transmission spot of TV signal,
to weaken the signal of the CNU device. The advantages of using the filter are as
follows:

9
Separate the network of the CNU device from the other parts of the coaxial
underwork, or prevent the signal of the CNU device on the network from being
interfered.
Protect the CNU device from the interference of other transmission signals in
the same frequency range.
3.2 Access the Network and the Internet
The CNU device can connect to computer, router, switch, IP phone, set top
box, and other network devices via the coaxial cable. See the following figure:

troubles and further solve the problems. This chapter mainly describes some
solutions to the problems.
Problem Solution
The power indicator is off Check whether the power adapter correctly
connects to the CNU device and whether the
power switch is turned on Verify that the CNU device has directly
connected to the power socket and the
socket is available
Try to replace the socket
