A/%&. T + L-.&(*): : Celebrating the Paschal Mystery

There are so many physical and tangible aspects to the celebration that began on Holy Thursday evening and concludes on the evening of Easter Sunday. During these three days, the Paschal Triduum, we saw and touched Bread and Wine that had become the Body and Blood of the Lord, the Wood of the Cross, the Light that broke through the darkness of sin, the Water that led us away from the power of Satan to the Salvation of God, just as Israel went through the Sea away from the power of Pharaoh to the Promised Land. It is a special aspect of our Catholic liturgy that we place such emphasis on physical things to express our faith in its fullness. Recognizing that God made things good at the creation, we use many things as sacraments of His presence among us even now.

Rejoice therefore, in the beauty of God’s creation that we can feel in a special way during the season of spring. It is a time of new life and new hope, echoed in the rebirth of Baptism that we celebrate in a special way during Easter. Allow yourself to feel the coolness of the Water and delight in the Light that shines forth from the Paschal Candle. God sees all that is and has found it very good.

A SPECIAL CALL

Please be aware that we dearly need more ushers, or rather, Ministers of Hospitality, to help make our celebrations of Holy Mass truly welcoming and inviting. The need exists at all our Masses, but most acutely at the 4:30PM Sunday Mass. Both women and men are asked to sign up for this great ministry to our parish. Please contact Father Paul, or leave your information with the Parish Secretary, Maureen Waterman, in the Priory Office if you are willing to help in this way.

Fr. Paul, Fr. Anthony, Fr. Joseph and Fr. Justin, along with the Parish Staff, want to wish you and all your loved ones, a Blessed and Happy Easter!
