Live feeds demand

Time usually a request made at the beginning to ensure everyone has logged on and is ready.

everyone can be prepared and even ready to go prior to logging on to view the video

Delay usually allows for a small delay to get everything started

delay is usually not necessary for on demand since it can be requested and viewed whenever the viewers are ready.

Paused the video Live feed may or may not be willing to make such a pause. There may be a request that discussion wait until the end of the presentation for questions.

if necessary the video, which has been pre-recorded, can be paused if necessary

The best chose for a number of people from a number of different locations that need to view the presentation at the same time, on demand

making presentations to select groups that are going to be gathering at a single location then you may want to consider using a live feed.

DescriptionPros Cons

One Speaker A single presenter speaks, demonstrates, and answers questions from the audience

Fewer people to coordinate and train on the webinar tool.

A lone presenter is more likely to become the authority at the "front of the room," which might make some in the audience reluctant to participate and ask questions.

Interview Style Interviewer asks a set of predetermined questions.

More engaging to hear multiple voices. The fact that the interviewer is asking questions of the expert(s) often encourages the audience to do the same.

More people to train and coordinate. Scheduling the run-through and the actual webinar may be more difficult

Moderated Panel Discussion

Multiple people on the line at the same time, with a moderator facilitating the discussion.

Offers a variety of voices and perspectives.

More people to train and coordinate. Scheduling the run-through and the actual webinar may be more difficult. Can be challenging to keep panelists from talking over each other

InteractiveAudience members participate fully via instructor-led exercises and facilitated conversations

If done well, participants receive a deeper understanding of the topic because they're fully engaged in the dialog and the exercises.

Can only accommodate a small group. Requires a very skilled, experienced teacher/facilitator.

What equipment do What equipment do webiner needwebiner need??

For the audio connection: A computer with RealPlayer or Windows Media Player installed.

When you log into the Virtual Seminar, your computer will be taken through a brief configuration check and will let you know if you're missing any software.

If you do not have RealPlayer or Windows, a touch-tone telephone will work also. It works best to use a speakerphone so that others can listen too.

For the Internet connection: PC: 166Mhz Pentium-based PC or better Operating system: Windows 95, 98, NT, 2000, XP . Browser: For optimal viewing experience, we recommend using

Internet Explorer 6.0 or higher. However, any version of IE 4.0 or higher will work. For Netscape, only versions 4.x are supported at this time.

Internet connection: 28.8 or faster connection . Display set at 1024 x 768 or 800 x 600 .

1010 Steps for Planning a Steps for Planning a Successful WebinarSuccessful Webinar1) Ask yourself (and others) whether a webinar is the right

tool for your needs. When determining whether a webinar is the best medium for your needs, consider your audience, the subject matter, and the time you'll need to cover your topic.

2) Recruit speakers and a support team.

Once you've decided that a webinar is the right tool for you, you'll need to assemble a team of staff members or volunteers to help you run it. In general, there are four main players in a webinar: the organizer/facilitator, the presenter or presenters, and assistants.

3) Determine the format:- webinar can be structured in a variety of formats to suit different purposes.

4) Plan your visuals. Plain slides with a lot of text don't work as well as interesting visuals that illustrate the topic being discussed.

5) Pick a tool. There are dozens of Web conferencing tools out there, offering a variety of features tailored to different need.

Page 14: Webiner Presentation

1010 Steps for Planning a Steps for Planning a Successful WebinarSuccessful Webinar6) Create an agenda.

About three to four weeks before your webinar, hold a conference call with the speaker or speakers and determine what questions will be asked and the order in which the speakers will present.

7) Schedule a dry run.

A few days before your webinar, you should schedule at least one 30- to 60-minute run-through with all participants to work out any unresolved questions or technical issues.

8) the webinar tool you choose will determine the type of equipment you'll need to run it. In general, you will want to have the following: Headsets, A power cord, A network cable.

9) Set up a system for registering attendees and determine your price structure. Before you begin marketing your webinar, determine what tool you will use to register attendees

10) Publicize! It is important to get the word out far and wide about your upcoming webinar, especially if you're planning to charge for it.

Advantages of WebinerAdvantages of Webiner

*Webinars allow you to conduct intensive meetings with full audiovisual and action features with anywhere from two to 1000 or more people anywhere in the world.

*With webinar meetings, you can share your desktop files and your computer's applications with any and all participants, and you can even allow them to move objects around on your computer desktop--and you can do the same with them.

*Everything is seen and heard in real-time, and anyone can record the meeting in full from any point.

*Webinars also permit co-browsing, so that two or more people can do the same Internet look-up at the same time--again, in real time.

Page 16: Webiner Presentation

Advantage of WebinerAdvantage of Webiner*Webinar technology also allows for and features a

virtual "white board", just like the erasable white boards in the traditional conference room.

*Different participants can write on and erase things from the virtual white board that all see, as long as the meeting's host (you) gives them individual access.

*Polling and surveying just got much, much easier and more thorough with webinar technology. Participants can easily and quickly respond to poll or survey questions right from their own computer .

*As long as you enable it, your webinar is fully recorded and can be played back whenever you need or want, and of course you can fast forward, pause, and rewind. Anyone who participated can be given a copy of the recorded meeting, too.

Disadvantages of Disadvantages of WebinerWebiner

webinar is the fact that distraction is very easy. because people have different learning styles. Some

of us learn through visuals, some learn through audio and some learn through tactile experience. Webinars neglect people with hearing loss or no sound on their computers (unless the webinars are conducted by phone).

they do provide an interactive forum that is similar to a live presentation, without the time or costs associated with traveling to the event.
