about getting our projects ready for the Trumbull County Fair!

4-H Youth Development/Community Opportunities

4-H ROYAL COURT

Trumbull 4-H has leadership opportunities for both juniors (9-13 yrs) and seniors (14-18) on the 4-H Royal Court. Consider running for a spot on royal court! Visit the website: http://trumbull.osu.edu 4-H Youth Development Forms & Applications. Applications are due April 3, 2017.

4-H CLUB OFFICER TRAINING

There will be a workshop for all 4-H club officers on *Saturday March 4, 2017 at the OSUE office in Cortland. Please mark your calendars. More information will be available soon. *Date is subject to change.

Grand March at the Fair

Start brainstorming for the float contest! The Grand March will be Tuesday, July 11th at 5:00 PM. All clubs & all species are invited to join. You may register at the OSUE office on Monday, July 10th by 4:30 PM. Awards are to be given to most patriotic, most humorous, most original and best overall!

2017 OHIO 4-H CONFERENCE

Mark your calendars for March 11, 2017 and plan to attend this joint teen and volunteer conference. The conference will be held at the Greater Columbus Convention Center and will cost $35, which includes all sessions and a luncheon. All teens and advisors are encouraged to attend! Nearly 150 workshops will be offered! Participants will have an opportunity to meet and interact with other teens and advisors and to hear from national speakers. Registration materials can be viewed and downloaded from: http://www.ohio4h.org/events/ohio-4-h-conference. Registration is due to the OSUE office by February 10.

PROCLAMATION DAY

Proclamation Day is a day where 4-H members visit the Trumbull County Commissioners and share their 4-H experiences. By letting the commissioners know how 4-H has impacted them, they help the commissioners recognize the 4-H program. Proclamation Day is usually held in March during Ohio 4-H Week. This year, Proclamation Day is set for Wednesday, March 8, 2017.

2017 OHIO 4-H WEEK

The dates for Ohio 4-H Week is March 5 - 11, 2017. Please make a note of this date on your calendar. We need your clubs help in promoting 4-H during that week. You as club members, advisors, and parents are our best resources for publicity. We encourage you to share with others the value of being part of 4-H, what it means to you as an individual, how it has helped you, what you have learned, and more. If being a part of 4-H has impacted you TALK ABOUT IT! Make it part of your every day conversations. Other ideas for 4-H Week include:

Have each member invite a friend to a club meeting.

Put up a window display at the local library or school.

Make up an announcement that can be used in the local schools.

Put up club fliers at local businesses.

Do a speech for a class or community group.

CARTEENS

4-Hers - here is a chance to help other teens your age, to give back to your community, and have fun! Trumbull County 4-H is entering another year of CARTEENS, in partnership with the Ohio State Highway Patrol and Trumbull Co. Courts, to help young people understand the importance of safe driving. Were looking for teens to be instructors for CARTEENS. You will lead other teens in hands-on, interactive activities in the areas of speeding, drunk driving, proper seat belt use, etc. You are asked to commit to once per month. 2017 DATES

The Trumbull County Fair will be Tuesday, July 11 through July 16. All projects and livestock/horses must be in place by 4:00 pm Tuesday, July 11, 2017 and livestock weigh-in will begin at 4:00 p.m. Watch future communications for more details. Trumbull County Fair

4-H News for Advisors and Members

IS YOUR CLUB ADDING NEW ADVISORS?

If your club is taking on new advisors for 2016-2017, dont forget about the application and approval process which they MUST complete before they can become new advisors! Applications can be requested any time during the year from our office or http://trumbull.osu.edu 4-H Youth Development 4-H Volunteers. There will be two new advisor group orientations this spring February 13th 6:30-8:30 PM and March 18, 2017 from 9:00-11:00 AM at the OSU Extension Office. Interested volunteers MUST attend orientation. Another option is to attend the orientation held at the WREERA Volunteer Development Night in Lake County on February 27, 2017. Screenings must be completed by March 31 in order to serve as a volunteer for 2017.
