Monday 13 th November 2017 Dear Applicant, Thank you for your interest in the role of International Programmes and Cultural Exchange Officer, which sits in the International Programmes and Cultural Exchange Team of the Education Department. It is an exciting time for the organisation as we approach our centenary in 2018 and move to expand and diversify our international work. The ESU was founded almost 100 years ago with a truly international outlook, and the International Programmes and Cultural Exchange team ensures this remains an important component of the ESU’s work today. The work of the IPCE team spans an eclectic mix of programmes, ranging from scholarships for teachers and students, to volunteer-led English language support programmes for EAL learners, and English Language Awards for resources in the ELT field. There is a network of over 50 ESUs in countries around the world with which the IPCE team works, and it also encourages partnerships with other like-minded organisations to provide knowledge and support for its diverse portfolio of programmes. Across our work, we aim to develop ‘confident communicators, critical thinkers and empowered citizens’ in a range of audiences. 2018 will be a somewhat extraordinary year as we celebrate the ESU centenary. As well as running our usual portfolio of programmes, we will be welcoming representatives from many of our international ESUs to London for a week in May for a World Members’ Conference, facilitating communication and cooperation between all parties, and running a full cultural programme alongside. The IPCE team will be intrinsic to the running of this conference, which is scheduled to take place concurrently with the annual International Public Speaking

Monday 13th November 2017Dear Applicant,

Thank you for your interest in the role of International Programmes and Cultural Exchange Officer, which sits in the International Programmes and Cultural Exchange Team of the Education Department.

The IPCE team will be intrinsic to the running of this conference, which is scheduled to take place concurrently with the annual International Public Speaking Competition. The new IPCE officer will take an active role in the planning and delivery of the week, as well as recognising how the international work of the ESU can be taken forward beyond our centenary celebrations.

The candidate we are looking for is someone who has excellent administrative and communication skills, events experience and an international outlook. You will be able to engage with external stakeholders as a representative of the ESU and ascertain how we can best meet their needs on joint projects. You are extremely well organised and can work on multiple different projects at once. If you fit the description above and are passionate about the international aspects of the work of the ESU, then I strongly encourage you to apply.
