Fourteenth Sunday after Trinity

10:30 am, September 17, AD 2017

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness,

goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-

control; against such things there is no law.

And those who belong to Christ Jesus

have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.

Galatians 5:23-24

The Fourteenth Sunday after Trinity

Opening: 619 When morning gilds the skies

Our worship continues on page 1 of the liturgy booklets.

The Collect:  ALMIGHTY and everlasting God, give to us the increase of faith, hope, and charity; and, that we may obtain that which you promise, make us to love that which you command; through Jesus Christ our Lord.  Amen.

Old Testament Lesson: 2 Kings 5.9-16This is the Word of the Lord: Thanks be to God

Psalm 118:1-9

1 O give thanks unto the Lord for ’ he is ’ gracious : because his ’ mercy en’dureth for ’ ever.2  Let Israel now confess that ’ he is ’ gracious : and that his ’ mercy en’dureth for ’ ever.3  Let the house of Aaron ’ now con‘fess : that his ’ mercy en’dureth for ’ ever.4  Yea let them now that fear the ‘ Lord con‘fess : that his ’ mercy en’dureth for ’ ever.

5  I called upon the ’ Lord in ’ trouble : and the

Lord ’ heard ’ me at ’ large.6  The Lord is ’ on my ‘ side : I will not ’ fear what ’ man doeth ’ unto me.

7  The Lord taketh my part with ’ them that ’ help me : therefore shall I see my de’sire up’on mine ’ enemies.8  It is better to ’ trust•in the ’ Lord : than to ’ put • any ’ confidence in ’ man. 9  It is better to ’ trust•in the ’ Lord : than to ’ put • any ’ confidence in ’ princes.

Glory be to the Father ’ and to • the ’ Son : and ’ to the ’ Holy ’ Ghost; As it was in the beginning is ’ now and • ever ’ shall be : world without ’ end. A ’ — ’ men.

New Testament Lesson: Galatians 5:16-24I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. For the desires of the flesh are against the Spirit, and the desires of the Spirit are against the flesh, for these are opposed to each other, to keep you from doing the things you want to do. But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law. Now the works of the flesh are evident: sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality, idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries, dissensions, divisions, envy, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these. I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law. And those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. This is the word of the Lord. Thanks be to God

Gradual: 183 Holy Spirit, come, confirm us

Gospel Acclamation:Alleluia (x4) We do not live by ’ bread a- ’ lone, but by every word that comes ’ from the • mouth of ’ God. Alleluia  (x4)

-3-The Gospel: St Luke 17.11-19Before the Gospel we sing: Glory to you, O LordOn the way to Jerusalem he was passing along between Samaria and Galilee. And as he entered a village, he was met by ten lepers, who stood at a distance and lifted up their voices, saying, “Jesus, Master, have mercy on us.” When he saw them he said to them, “Go and show yourselves to the priests.” And as they went they were cleansed. Then one of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back, praising God with a loud voice; and he fell on his face at Jesus' feet, giving him thanks. Now he was a Samaritan. Then Jesus answered, “Were not ten cleansed? Where are the nine? Was no one found to return and give praise to God except this foreigner?” And he said to him, “Rise and go your way; your faith has made you well.”” And Jesus said to him, “You go, and do likewise.”After the Gospel we sing: Praise to you, O Christ
