Overview

We are again very excited to present this unique opportunity at our 4th “Big Mama’s Collard Green Festival for many reasons. Our last event was an amazing success in every sense of the word and it created a collaborative effort of community residents and organizations working together to offer and/or display the culinary talents in the community. We all believe we’re the best cook. Then let us put it to the test again by having this regional Festival and letting the community and surrounding areas decide who cooks the best “Greens and sides”. We showcased more than 26 vendors with entertainment by local talents.

The Newtown Farmer’s Market wants to continue serving the community by having events of this nature periodically to celebrate the best that this community has to offer to our community and the City of Sarasota at-large. Our focus on healthy eating with as much locally grown produce is our ultimate goal. We’ve provided fresh fruit to a summer camp and daycare center, teaching healthy eating habits early. The kids loved it.

As you may be aware, The Newtown Farmer’s Market has provided fresh fruits, vegetables and other resources to Newtown citizens for the past 36 months. We now deliver on a weekly basis to those who can’t attend the market. The funds provided by this event will be used to continue to provide the healthy food resources that are not readily available in the community well as educating the community on the value of healthy eating habits.

We’re asking local businesses to assist us in continuing this initiative and become a sponsor of this event. This exciting event will be held on Saturday, October 19, 2019 on the playground/picnic area at the Robert L. Taylor Community Complex, 1834 John Rivers St., Sarasota, FL. Time:_12 Noon – 6 P.M. Prizes will be awarded to the 3 top collard green dishes. JOIN US!!

Your sponsorship and/or participation will help assure the success of our event in addition to keeping our Farmer’s Market open to provide fresh produce to our residents on a weekly basis.
