Swimmers who have Automatic District cuts will definitely be swimming in the District Meet on March 1st and 2nd. The coaches will attend the Coach Seed Meeting for Districts on Sunday, February 24h. At that time, PIAA District I will advise which swimmers consideration times were fast enough to move them into the live events at Districts. Therefore, swimmers with Consideration cuts only, you will be notified by your coaches on Sunday, February 24th if you are scheduled in events on March 1st & 2rd. Regardless of status, the entire District Team should plan to attend the District meet. Please note, the snow date for the meet extends into Sunday, March 3, 2019. Please be prepared to swim that day if necessary due to weather.

Districts Practice ScheduleIndividual practices will be discussed with each swimmer individually for this and next week. There will be two mandatory practices for all members of the District team:

1. Monday, February 25th from 3:00 to 4:30pm, Please get there promptly after school to review psych sheets and practice relay starts (approximately 30 minutes). Club swimmers plan to stay at Lionville and complete their club practices at this time.

2. Thursday, February 28 from 3:00pm to 4:30pm before Team Dinner

Districts Dinner – Thursday, February 28 – 5:00pm – 7:00pmMandatory team dinner will be held for all Members of DEHS Swim & Dive District Team at the Bousum’s House 803 Quail Way Chester Springs, PA 19425. Athletes will receive their district t-shirt at this dinner.

Transportation Team will travel with Downingtown West Athletes and transportation will be provided by the District only to LaSalle University, parents are to make arrangements to transport their swimmer home. See attached information on where and when to meet.

Team AttireAthletes must wear the team ¼ zip and district t-shirt with East team caps. On Friday, team will wear the District T-shirt and Saturday, 2018-2019 plan to wear the black East team t-shirt. Athletes are to wear black or navy-blue shorts or pants with this uniform.

As part of the District team, each member will receive a t-shirt as shown below with each member of the district team listed on the back of the shirt. As there is a very tight window of time to turn around this t-shirt, our order must be finalized by tomorrow, Monday, February 18th at 5:00pm, yes 24 hours to turn this around! Parents or families of these athletes interested in purchasing a t-shirt for $10/each should email Kate Bousum at katedeanebousum@yahoo.com with the number of shirts you would like. Payments should be made electronically to the team Venmo account: Downingtown East Swimming and Diving. Deadline for ordering additional district t-shirts is Tomorrow, Monday, February 18 th at 5:00pm SHARP. No additional orders can be taken after that time.

Important Meet Notes

All information for the meet is posted on the PIAA District I Swimming website above. Estimated timeline for the meet is noted below but is subject to change.

To Qualify for the State Championship Friday and Saturday March 15-16 at Bucknell University.

For Relays and Individuals: The 1st place finisher at Districts will automatically advance to States. In addition, the 24 fastest times all across the districts will advance to States, totaling 32 entries for each event.

Scoring and Awards Information:

Medals will be presented to the fastest 8 individuals and 8 relays for 3A events. All award recipients are expected to be dressed in their team ¼ zips with Black or

Navy-Blue shorts or pants when reporting to the awards area. Please make sure athletes report to the awards area as soon as possible to keep the meet

running as smoothly as possible.

For those individuals qualifying in the top 32 will move onto the PIAA State Meet, team details will be published as soon as possible. Any potential state relay members and alternates will be determined by the coaches after districts. Information on this meet can be found at: PIAA Swimming Website

Team travel arrangements are in process including hotel accommodations, transportation, apparel and parent ticket purchases. Details will be published as soon as able. Athletes, please note, coaches will determine athlete rooming assignments and announce to team.
