Pumpkin Parade October 2016 What is it? Every year at Margaret Jenkins, we hold a Pumpkin Parade in the library. It is a fun way to celebrate books and reading using the plenful fall pumpkins. Pumpkins that have been transformed into book characters are displayed with their book during the last week of October. What do I do? To enter the Pumpkin Parade, you need to turn a pumpkin into a book character. You can use a plasc pumpkin (available from Michael’s) or a real pumpkin. If you choose to use a real pumpkin, please choose a fresh, firm pumpkin and DO NOT CARVE it – we don’t want smelly, rong pumpkins on display in the library! You can use whatever craſting materials you like, such as paint (spray paint or acrylic are good opons), paper, pipe-cleaners, yarn, accessories, glier, felt fabric, a wig, googly eyes, etc. to decorate your pumpkin. Small and medium pumpkins work best; they are easy to carry and we can fit more of them into the library. There is limited room, and we had over 100 pumpkins last year! We can display a library book with your pumpkin, or you can bring your own book from home to display with your pumpkin. When is it? This year’s Pumpkin Parade will run from Monday October 24-Friday October 28. Please bring your pumpkins in on Monday or Tuesday and all pumpkins will be sent home on Friday. Can I win something? Yes! Everyone who brings a pumpkin in will be entered in a draw to win some great book-related prizes! Listen to the announcements on Oct. 28 to see if you’ve won. Have fun creang your pumpkins! We can’t wait to see them all on “parade”!

Pumpkin ParadeOctober 2016

What is it? Every year at Margaret Jenkins, we hold a Pumpkin Parade in the library. It is a fun way to celebrate books and reading using the plentiful fall pumpkins. Pumpkins that have been transformed into book characters are displayed with their book during the last week of October.

What do I do? To enter the Pumpkin Parade, you need to turn a pumpkin into a book character. You can use a plastic pumpkin (available from Michael’s) or a real pumpkin. If you choose to use a real pumpkin, please choose a fresh, firm pumpkin and DO NOT CARVE it – we don’t want smelly, rotting pumpkins on display in the library! You can use whatever crafting materials you like, such as paint (spray paint or acrylic are good options), paper, pipe-cleaners, yarn, accessories, glitter, felt fabric, a wig, googly eyes, etc. to decorate your pumpkin.

Have fun creating your pumpkins! We can’t wait to see them all on “parade”!
