OUR VISIONTo see the world impacted for Jesus Christ through the influence of athletes and coaches.

OUR MISSIONTo present to athletes and coaches, and all whom they influence, the challenge and adventure of receiving Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord, serving Him in their relationships and in the fellowship of the church.

OUR CORE VALUESIntegrity, Serving, Teamwork and Excellence

OUR MINISTRIES

COACHESAt the heart of FCA are coaches. Our role is to minister to them by encouraging and equipping them to know and serve Christ. FCA ministers to coaches through Bible studies, staff contacts, prayer support, discipleship and mentoring, behind the bench (a newsletter for coaches wives), resources, outreach events, national and local conventions, conference and retreats.

CAMPUSThe campus ministry is initiated and led by student-athletes and coaches on middle school, high school and college campuses. The programs of the campus ministry include huddles, Team Bible Studies, Chapel program, team FCA membership, One Way 2 Play-Drug Free and Special events.

CAMPS Camps are a time of “inspiration and perspiration” for athletes and coaches to reach their potential by offering comprehensive athletic, spiritual and leadership training. The types of camps are sports camps, leaders camp, Coaches camp, Youth sports camp, partnership camp and Team Camp.

COMMUNITYThe non-school based FCA ministries reach the community through partnerships with local CHURCHES, BUSINESS, PARENTS, AND VOLUNTEERS. Theses ministries not only reach out to the community, but also allow the community to invest in athletes and coaches. Community ministries include: Stewardship ministries, adult ministries, sport specific ministries, leadership Boards, Booster Clubs, Adult Huddles, Clinics, Product and Resource Development and professional athlete ministries.

FCA Campus Ministry OverviewWhat is Campus Ministry?

The Campus Ministry is initiated and led by student-athletes and coaches on middle school, high school and college campuses. The programs of the Campus Ministry include Huddles which are extracurricular, Team Bible Studies, Character Coach Programs, TeamFCA Membership, One Way 2 Play – Drug Free! program and Special Events.

During our decades of campus ministry, we realize that there are several keys to FCA campus ministry:

Prayer Focus – praying for God to prepare the campus Need Oriented – identify the needs of each campus Teamwork – Uniting with other co-laborers and ministries FCA Staff meeting coaches and student-athletes where they are at Understand Equal Access Slow down and do it right – complete the proper FCA paperwork Train and equip the Huddle Coaches and student leaders Providing resources FCA Leadership Camp for athletes and coaches – learning how to be spiritual leaders and campus

leader Basic strategy – (1) at least one adult (Huddle Coach/Faculty Sponsor) working with the Huddle,

(2) Access to free resources/tools for ministry. www.fcaresources.com and please the resource tab in this binder. (An independent National Survey found that these two things are essential for effective campus ministry.)

FCA focuses on the campus for many reasons. FCA desires to continue to grow and expand so that we can reach more athletes for Christ for these reasons:

There are 15 high schools and 15 middles schools in Loudoun County each zoned to have at least 1,350 students

There are approximately 46,000 students (middle and high school) across Loudoun County This freshman class will be the largest grad class ever!

Across America the statistics are staggering:

99% of the population of your community will pass through these schools More than 80% of youth who attend church will stop going between the 7th grade and 12th grade. 29 million teenagers in public and secondary schools – 75% of them do not have faith in Christ 83% of teens maintain that moral truth depends on circumstances. Only 6% of teens believe that moral truth is absolute.

FCA Campus ministry is the largest Christian campus ministry in America. We serve thousands of adult volunteers who work hands on with the students. Often we say that significant ministry begins not when the FCA staff show up on campus, but when the staff leave. Our goal is to encourage, equip and empower volunteers so that we truly give the ministry away. Therefore, it is imperative that we provide training and structure for Huddle Coaches.

FCA’s Statement of Faith 1. We believe the Bible to be the inspired, the only infallible, authoritative Word of God. 2. We believe that there is only one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son

and Holy Spirit. 3. We believe in the deity of Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in

His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father and in His personal return in power and glory.

4. We believe that for the salvation of lost and sinful men (women) regeneration by the Holy Spirit is absolutely essential.

5. We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit, by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a godly life.

6. We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost, they that are saved unto the resurrection of life and they that are lost unto the resurrection of damnation.

7. We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ.

8. Do you agree with the FCA’s Statement of Faith? Yes No (Circle One)

1 Timothy 4:12 Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity. I understand that as a leader in FCA my life is an example to others.

FCA’s Sexual Purity Statement God desires His children to lead pure lives of holiness. The Bible is clear in teaching on sexual sin including sex outside of marriage and homosexual acts. Neither heterosexual sex outside of marriage nor any homosexual act constitute an alternative lifestyle acceptable to God. While upholding God’s standard of holiness, FCA strongly affirms God’s love and redemptive power in the individual who chooses to follow Him. FCA’s desire is to encourage individuals to trust in Jesus and turn away from any impure lifestyle. (For a more complete Sexual Policy Statement, see page 67 of this Playbook.)

1. Will you conform to the FCA’s Sexual Purity Policy? Yes No (Circle One)2. Have you, or will you at this time commit to living a drug, alcohol and tobacco-free life?

Yes No (Circle One)

As an leader, I will be accountable to the other leaders, Huddle Coach(es) and FCA staff. I understand that if I am found being involved in a lifestyle that does not conform to the FCA’s Sexual Purity Statement, or break my commitment to living a drug-, alcohol- and tobacco-free life, that it means that I will need to step down from my leadership position with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. This does not mean that I am a bad person and that the FCA does not love me and want me involved; this is in order to protect the integrity of the ministry and to protect the ones to which we are ministering.

Leadership Team Accountability Contract

I understand that as a leader in ________________ FCA, I am expected to imitate Christ to the best of my ability. While I understand that I am not perfect and I will make mistakes, as a Leader in my FCA I am called to avoid even the appearance of evil, so I want to be held accountable to do the following:

1 Read my Bible Daily 2 Pray daily (and pray for our FCA and Leadership Team) 3 Abstain from alcohol and other illegal drugs 4 Live a sexually pure life—abstaining from sexual activity and sexual materials. 5 Encourage others with my speech by not gossiping or using profane language 6 Dressing and behaving modestly 7 Intentionally loving individuals different from myself. 8 Attending Church regularly. 9 Honoring my mother and father as well as my teachers and coaches. 10 Doing 100% on my school work and on my team.

I give permission to the members of this Leadership Team to approach me individually and in a loving way if they ever become concerned that that I might not be honoring this commitment. I understand that should I decide at a later time that I no longer want to honor this commitment I could lose the privilege of serving on the Leadership Team.

It is with great joy that I make this commitment and ask my Leadership Team to hold me accountable to living a Christ-like life.

WARMUP: (NAME 2)Ice Breaker: Superhero Challenge

WORKOUT: (NAME 3)Confidence and Power

1. What is one thing you take for granted?2. Which part of your church worship service helps strengthen your faith the most?

Read I John 5:1-15

1 Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God, and everyone who loves the father loves his child as well. 2 This is how we know that we love the children of God: by loving God and carrying out his commands. 3 In fact, this is love for God: to keep his commands. And his commands are not burdensome, 4 for everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith. 5 Who is it that overcomes the world? Only the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God. 6 This is the one who came by water and blood—Jesus Christ. He did not come by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit who testifies, because the Spirit is the truth. 7 For there are three that testify: 8 the Spirit, the water and the blood; and the three are in agreement. 9 We accept human testimony, but God’s testimony is greater because it is the testimony of God, which he has given about his Son. 10 Whoever believes in the Son of God accepts this testimony. Whoever does not believe God has made him out to be a liar, because they have not believed the testimony God has given about his Son. 11 And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. 12 Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life. 13 I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life. 14 This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. 15 And if we know that he hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have what we asked of him.

3. Judging by the standard in verse 2, how loved would you say God feels by you?4. What would you say to a friend who has doubts that he or she is really a Christian (verse 11-12)?5. With how much confidence can you say you “know that you have eternal life” (verse 13)? What would help you

to increase your confidence level?
