General Information

Competition Venue

Telemark Biathlon range has 14 lanes with covered canopy. In 2015, the firing line was upgraded and concrete firing pad added.

Telemark is approximately 1 hour from Penticton. Course maps are attached

The Competition Office will be open from 8:30am to 10:30am on February 26 - 27th and from 8:00-10:00am February 28th . It is located in the Biathlon Building at Telemark range.

Rules

International Biathlon Union (IBU) rules and regulations shall apply as fully as possible. Biathlon Canada rules shall apply for classes not covered in IBU rules, with modified rules for classes Junior Boys/Girls as per Appendix D of the Biathlon BC Hosting Policy, dated December 2015

Eligibility to Participate

All entrants must be registered participants in Biathlon BC. All entrants BCWG competition fee of $175 to BiBC no later than February 15th 2016..

Entry Fees

Entry fees are $175 and are payable to BiBC no later than 15th February 2016.

Awards are given at the end of each competition at Telemark

Classes of Competition

The following classes of competition will be run.

Sr. Boys (15-16) 7.5km - PSPS 6km – PS 2.5km - PS

Sr. Girls (15-16) 7.5km - PSPS 6km – PS 2.5km - PS

Jr. Boys (13-14) 6km – PPP 4.5km - PP 2.5km - PP

Jr. Girls (13-14) 6km – PPP 4.5km - PP 2.5km - PP

Super Sprint Format

The format will be as followsCourse distance will be the same for all athletes. It is 850m per loopStart will be a mass start format, with position of start determined by result in sprint competition.All athletes will ski a loop and then shoot from assigned lanes. All athletes will have 1 clip of 5 bullets with a bowl of 10 additional bullets to use if necessary to hit all 5 targets. ALL 5 TARGETS MUST BE HIT TO PROCEED TO NEXT LOOP. If the athlete is unsuccessful in hitting all 5 targets within the shooting bout, they will be withdrawn from the competition at the range.The athlete will continue to second ski loop followed by last shooting bout. Senior Boys/girls will shoot standing and Junior boys/girls will remain prone. Same rules apply as in first shooting bout. Please remember that athletes will shoot from an assigned lane.All athletes that complete shooting bout #2 will ski a final loop with finish determined by order of finish.

Lane assignments will correspond to order of start.Coaches are responsible for having the correct number of bullets in the bowl for the athlete at time of shooting. Coaches are responsible for rifles for both senior and junior classes. Senior Boy/girl will use rack to rack protocol.Applicable target sizes will be used for prone and standing shooting.
