Rhyme or song assignment summary. See course web for more details. Must have at least 3 stanzas or verses, or at least 12 lines, whichever is more.

o So if you do haiku, do at least 4 related haiku for 12 lines. Must rhyme and have consistent rhythm (except for haiku, which do not rhyme).

o At least two lines per stanza must have "perfect rhymes." Must include plenty of accurate content, using course vocabulary correctly.

o The content must be from Anthro. 1 rather than primarily from another class.o The content should have a focus or should explain a single concept, theory or category.

E.g., if the first stanza is about genetic drift (rift, gift, sift, miffed), the remaining verses should be about a related topic such as

alleles (reveals, appeals, unseals) gene flow (grow, mow, no, throw) variation (nation, elation, station -- note: this does not rhyme with evolution)

Must use college-level written English conventions.o Start every line and sentence with a capital letter.o End every sentence with the appropriate punctuation (e.g., period or question mark).o Check spelling and agreement between subject and verb, noun and pronoun. o Keep verb tense consistent (don’t switch between present and past unless that is part of your story).

Must be original (not copied), except that you may use the tune of any song. Must not include vulgar or derogatory language.

Submit twice: email and hard copy. If you plan to perform it, submit a third way: print an extra copy and staple it to the extra credit portfolio sheet.

For the hard copy: o No cover sheet. Put your full name, my name, and class day and time in upper right corner of first page.o Use a word processor. Handwritten assignments will be returned without a grade.o Use 1-inch margins, double-spaced lines, and a standard, black 12-point font (not italics, not all caps).

For the email: o Use the standard Anth 1 subject line: your full name, Anthro 1, day and time your class meets.o Option A: Send your poem or song within the email by just copying and pasting it.o Option B: Send it as an attachment in the format .doc, .docx, .txt, .pdf, or .wpd.

Use your name and topic in the title (e.g., "Garcia_lemurs.docx") Include your name in the file as well.

o Watch for my response. You'll get an email reply on my next work day. It will say, "Your assignment arrived just fine. Congratulations on

meeting the deadline!" It will not include any feedback or grade. This email reply will go to the address you sent your poem/song from. Be sure that's the email you're checking.
