History 1008/1018 UNIT 5 RESEARCH PROJECT/PAPERWaterfront (NSCC) 1 2012-2013
Unit DescriptionIn this final unit:
You will conduct an individual research project to examine an issue of social justice from a global and historical perspective. This research project may be a slide show, poster pamphlet … you name it, … you create it.
You may choose a topic which a) was introduced earlier in the course, b) is introduced as an introduction to this unit, or c) is of great interest to you and is applicable for this purpose.
You may also choose to make use of familiar graphic organizers/ assessment tools to guide you through the process and invite feedback for each step of the process.
If you are an Academic Learner:
Your investigation should be presented as an APA style research paper. It should possess all of the elements of a well planned and well researched
paper; with appropriate sophistication of ideas/purpose, organization, audience consideration, word choice, sentence fluency /grammar, presentation and process as detailed in the ALP Writing Rubric.
You must state your topic as a thesis statement and follow all conventions of APA writing standards
You must also incorporate technology and visuals for the purpose of presentation. (You may choose, for example, to create a power point which summarizes all of the major findings and analysis of the research paper and which serves to support the thesis.). Slides to a sample Power Point (which goes with the sample paper) is provided in the Appendix B, as stated above.
