Why Kahn Academy

Every learner is different and has different learning needs - that’s where Khan Academy comes in. They are a nonprofit on a mission to provide a free world-class education for anyone anywhere. To accomplish this goal, they’ve created a personalized learning experience that uses videos and exercises to engage students across a wide range of subjects, with a special emphasis on math and computer programming. Best of all, access to the site is completely free, with no contract, spam, or ads.

Kahn Academy is used in class and a required project for the course. You should watch, on average, 2 videos per day. Videos are typically 2-5 minutes in length. While watching the video you must take notes in the appropriate format.

**Parents: You can elect to create a parent account and link it to your child’s account. There are instructions on the site to do this.

Kahn Academy Sign up Instructions

1. Go to www.KahnAcademy.com, click on “Start Learning Now”

2. Choose your sign in method: Facebook, Google+, or Email

3. You will receive a message to confirm your account, click on the link provided.

4. Choose your username and password and write it down

5. To add me as your coach, click on your name at the right hand corner of your screen, click profile

6. Enter the appropriate class code (found right) to connect to our class
