My memories from Mount Airy high school include lots of activities and many friends. I enjoyed my time on the yearbook staff and other clubs during my time there. I was very fond of a number of my teachers, especially Mrs. Sydnor which led me to get a degree in mathematics. I love thinking about going to the football and basketball games and cheering for the Bears.

After graduation from Meredith College with a degree in mathematics and teaching certification I married Hank Windley. For the next 5 years we moved around central North Carolina (Henderson, High Point, Gastonia) and Danville, Va. as Hank worked in management for Rose’s Stores. We came back to Henderson in 1978 and have been here ever since. We raised two daughters here and have watched them go on to marry and have families. Several years ago I retired from 34 years of teaching, having experience in everything from 5th grade math to AP Calculus – they even threw in US History, World History and Physical Science one time. I retired as the Curriculum Specialist for secondary mathematics in Vance County. Now we enjoy visiting our four grandchildren: Emily 14, Abbie 11, Carter 2 and Ethan 1. We also enjoy traveling the world.
