1.Artistic filtersCutout

Makes an image appear as though it were constructed from roughly cut pieces of colored paper. High-contrast images appear as if in silhouette, and colored images are built up from several layers of colored paper.

Dry Brush

Paints the edges of the image using a dry brush technique (between oil and watercolor). The filter simplifies an image by reducing its range of colors to areas of common color.

Film Grain

Applies an even pattern to the shadow tones and midtones. A smoother, more saturated pattern is added to the lighter areas. This filter is useful for eliminating banding in blends and visually unifying elements from various sources.

Fresco

Paints an image in a coarse style using short, rounded, and hastily applied daubs.

Neon Glow

Adds various types of glows to the objects in an image. This filter is useful for colorizing an image while softening its look. To select a glow color, click the glow box, and select a color from the Color Picker.

filter is useful for creating special effects. You can adjust the size of the area used to calculate the average value for a given pixel; a larger radius results in greater blurring.

Blur and Blur MoreEliminate noise where significant color transitions occur in an image. Blur

filters smooth transitions by averaging the pixels next to the hard edges of defined lines and shaded areas. The effect of the Blur More filter is three or four times stronger than that of the Blur filter.

Gaussian BlurQuickly blurs a selection by an adjustable amount. Gaussian refers to the bell-shaped curve that is generated when Photoshop applies a weighted average to the pixels.

Lens BlurSmart Blur

Blurs an image with precision. You can specify a radius, a threshold, and a blur quality

Surface Blur

Blurs an image while preserving edges.

Distorts an image along a curve. Specify the curve by dragging the line in the box. You can adjust any point along the curve. Click Default to change the curve back to a straight line. In addition, you choose how to treat undistorted areas.

Spherize

Gives objects a 3D effect by wrapping a selection around a spherical shape, distorting the image and stretching it to fit the selected curve.

Twirl

Rotates a selection more sharply in the center than at the edges. Specifying an angle produces a twirl pattern

5.Noise filters

Add Noise

Applies random pixels to an image, simulating the effect of shooting pictures on high-speed film

Despeckle

Detects the edges in an image (areas where significant color changes occur) and blurs all of the selection except those edges. This blurring removes noise while preserving detail.

Dust & Scratches

Reduces noise by changing dissimilar pixels

Median

Reduces noise in an image by blending the brightness of pixels within a selection.

Reduce Noise

Reduces noise while preserving edges based on user settings affecting the overall image or individual channels.

Reduce Noise

6.Pixelate filters

Page 25: pmkavitha.files.wordpress.com · Web viewUNIT 2 (16 Mark) PHOTOSHOP BASIC. Photoshop is Adobe's photo editing, image creation and graphic design software. The software provides many

Color Halftone

Simulates the effect of using an enlarged halftone screen on each channel of the image. For each channel, the filter divides the image into rectangles and replaces each rectangle with a circle.

Crystallize

Clumps pixels into a solid color in a polygon shape.

Facet

Clumps pixels of solid or similar colors into blocks of like-colored pixels. You can use this filter to make a scanned image look hand-painted or to make a realistic image resemble an abstract painting

Fragment

Creates four copies of the pixels in the selection, averages them, and offsets them from each other.

Mezzotint

Converts an image to a random pattern of black-and-white areas or of fully saturated colors in a color image.

Mosaic

Clumps pixels into square blocks. The pixels in a given block are the same color, and the colors of the blocks represent the colors in the selection.

Pointillize

Breaks up the color in an image into randomly placed dots, as in a pointillist painting, and uses the background color as a canvas area between the dots.

7.Render filters

Clouds

Generates a soft cloud pattern using random values that vary between the foreground and the background colors.

Difference Clouds

Uses randomly generated values that vary between the foreground and background color to produce a cloud pattern.

Fibers

Creates the look of woven fibers using the foreground and background colors.

8.Sharpen filters

Sharpen and Sharpen More

Focus a selection and improve its clarity. The Sharpen More filter applies a stronger sharpening effect than does the Sharpen filter.

Sharpen Edges and Unsharp MaskFind the areas in the image where significant color changes occur and sharpen

them.

Smart SharpenSharpens an image by letting you set the sharpening algorithm or control the

amount of sharpening that occurs in shadows and highlights

9.Sketch filters

Bas Relief

Transforms an image so that it appears carved in low relief and lit to accent the surface variations.

Chalk & Charcoal

Redraws highlights and midtones with a solid midtone gray background drawn in coarse chalk.

Charcoal

Creates a posterized, smudged effect. Major edges are boldly drawn, and midtones are sketched using a diagonal stroke.

Chrome

Renders the image as if it had a polished chrome surface.

Conté Crayon

Replicates the texture of dense dark and pure white Conté crayons on an image.

Graphic Pen

Uses fine, linear ink strokes to capture the details in the original image

Page 27: pmkavitha.files.wordpress.com · Web viewUNIT 2 (16 Mark) PHOTOSHOP BASIC. Photoshop is Adobe's photo editing, image creation and graphic design software. The software provides many

10.Stylize filters

Glowing Edges

Identifies the edges of color and adds a neon-like glow to them. This filter can be applied cumulatively.

Solarize

Blends a negative and a positive image—similar to exposing a photographic print briefly to light during development.

Tiles

Breaks up an image into a series of tiles, creating an offset between the selection and its original position.

Trace Contour

Finds the transitions of major brightness areas and thinly outlines them for each color channel, for an effect similar to the lines in a contour map

Wind

Places tiny horizontal lines in the image to create a windblown effect.

11.Texture filters

Craquelure

Paints an image onto a high-relief plaster surface, producing a fine network of cracks that follow the contours of the image.

Grain

Adds texture to an image by simulating different kinds of grain—Regular, Soft, Sprinkles, Clumped, Contrasty, Enlarged, Stippled, Horizontal, Vertical, and Speckle, available from the Grain Type menu.

Mosaic Tiles

Renders the image so that it appears to be made up of small chips or tiles and adds grout between the tiles. (In contrast, the Pixelate > Mosaic filter breaks up an image into blocks of different-colored pixels.)

Patchwork

Page 28: pmkavitha.files.wordpress.com · Web viewUNIT 2 (16 Mark) PHOTOSHOP BASIC. Photoshop is Adobe's photo editing, image creation and graphic design software. The software provides many

Breaks up an image into squares filled with the predominant color in that area of the image. The filter randomly reduces or increases the tile depth to replicate the highlights and shadows.

Stained Glass

Repaints an image as single-colored adjacent cells outlined in the foreground color.

Texturizer

Applies a texture you select or create to an image.

12.Video filters

De-Interlace

Smooths moving images captured on video by removing either the odd or even interlaced lines in a video image. You can choose to replace the discarded lines by duplication or interpolation.

NTSC Colors

Restricts the gamut of colors to those acceptable for television reproduction, to prevent oversaturated colors from bleeding across television scan lines.

3..Explain about Layers in photoshop.

In Photoshop, layers are used to work on individual parts of an image while not affecting other parts. They allow you to modify your image, add text, change

Page 29: pmkavitha.files.wordpress.com · Web viewUNIT 2 (16 Mark) PHOTOSHOP BASIC. Photoshop is Adobe's photo editing, image creation and graphic design software. The software provides many

colors, put two pictures on the same page, and more without modifying your original photo.

A layer is the term used to describe the different levels at which you can place an object or image file. In the program you can stack, merge or define layers when creating a digital image.

LAYERS PANEL

Photoshop houses layers in a single panel. To display the Layers panel, choose Window→Layers or, easier yet, press F7. The order of the layers in the Layers panel represents the order in the image. The top layer in the panel is the top layer in your

LAYERS EFFECTS AND STYLE

Photoshop provides a variety of effects—such as shadows, glows, and bevels—that change the appearance of a layer’s contents in a non-distructive way. Layer effects are linked to the layer contents.

A layer style is one or more effects applied to a layer or layer group. You can apply one of the preset styles provided with Photoshop or create a custom style using the Layer Style dialog box

You can apply multiple effects in a single layer style. Also, more than one instance of some effects can comprise a layer style.

a) Apply preset styles

You can apply preset styles from the Styles panel. The layer styles that come with Photoshop are grouped into libraries by function. For example, one library contains styles for creating web buttons; another library contains styles for adding effects to text. To access these styles, you need to load the appropriate library. Display the Styles panel

Choose Window > Styles.

APPLY A PRESET STYLE TO A LAYER

Normally, applying a preset style replaces the current layer style. However, you can add the attributes of a second style to those of the current style.

Do one of the following:

Click a style in the Styles panel to apply it to the currently selected layers.

Drag a style from the Styles panel onto a layer in the Layers panel. Drag a style from the Styles panel to the document window, and release

the mouse button when the pointer is over the layer content to which you want to apply the style..

Choose Layer > Layer Style > Blending Options, and click the word Styles in the Layer Style dialog box (top item in the list on the left side of the dialog box). Click the style you want to apply, and click OK.

1.BASIC CONCEPTS OF FLASH

Adobe Flash is a deprecated multimedia software platform used for production of animations, rich Internet applications, desktop applications, mobile applications, mobile games and embedded web browser video players. ash was originally released by Macromedia in 1996. It began as a basic animation tool and an optional plug-in for Web browsers.Difference between flash and Photoshop

Photoshop is the best software for bitmap and image manipulation whereas Flashis the best one for vector and raster graphics. ... Photoshop is used to create only layouts i.e. mockups or design, whereas using Flash we can make that layout into a website or interactive version

A Flash document has four main parts:

The Stage is where your graphics, videos, buttons, and so on appear during playback.

The Timeline is where you tell Flash when you want the graphics and other elements of your project to appear. You also use the Timeline to specify the layering order of graphics on the Stage. Graphics in higher layers appear on top of graphics in lower layers.

The Library panel is where Flash displays a list of the media elements in your Flash document.

Action Script code allows you to add interactivity to the media elements in your document.

Layout of the Flash Desktop:

The desktop is arranged in as many columns of panels as you like, but usually about three. We usually keep the following organization

the main tool panel and the properties panel to the left, the time-line and the drawing area (stage) in the middle column some tools panels and libraries in the right column

Selecting the right desktop layout depends on both the task and the size of your screen. Developing Flash with a small laptop is painstaking.

Panels are tools providing various editing and object management functionalities. Since some of these functionalities can't be found through the menus (and the other way round), you have to learn what kind of panels exist. All existing panels can be opened through the Window' menu on top.

5. Selection tools in flash

Selection Tool (v) - Selecting whole objects and moving them. Subselection Tool - Selecting partial objects.  Lasso Tool

Selection Tool

There are several ways to select objects in Flash. You can select an object's stroke or fill or both. You can use the Selection tool to select parts of the object or drag over a portion of it to create a selection rectangle

Subselection Tool and Free Transform Tool

Subselection Tool and Free Transform Tool are a little similar because both make selections that can be used to modify the shape of a selected object. The main difference between these two selection tools is that the "Subselection Tool" allows you to reshape an object by dragging an anchor point, while with the "Free Transform Tool" you can reshape a selected element by dragging an edge or the corners. The "Free Transform Tool" can also be used to rotate the selected object.

Lasso Tool

The Lasso tool is useful when you want to select shapes that are too close to objects you don't want to select, or when you want to select irregular forms. This tool allows you to draw around the shape, selecting everything contained in the shape you draw.

Page 57: pmkavitha.files.wordpress.com · Web viewUNIT 2 (16 Mark) PHOTOSHOP BASIC. Photoshop is Adobe's photo editing, image creation and graphic design software. The software provides many

The Lasso tool has two modes (in the option area of the Tools panel): defaul mode, called "Magic Wand", and "Polygon Mode".

Magic Wand - draws a freeform lasso around the object you want to select. Polygon Mode - defines the selected area with a series of straight-line segments.

To move the transformation point, drag it from within the selected graphic object. To realign the transformation point with the element’s center point, double-click the

transformation point. To switch the point of origin for a scale or skew transformation

  Free Transform tool

To move the selection, position the pointer over the object within the bounding box, and drag the object to a new position. Do not drag the transformation point.

To set the center of rotation or scaling, drag the transformation point to a new location.

To rotate the selection, position the pointer just outside a corner handle and drag. The selection rotates around the transformation point. Shift-drag to rotate in 45° increments.

To rotate around the opposite corner, Alt-drag (Windows) or Option-drag (Macintosh).

To scale the selection, drag a corner handle diagonally to scale in two dimensions. Shift-drag to resize proportionally.

To scale in the respective direction only, drag a corner handle or a side handle horizontally or vertically.

To skew the selection, position the pointer on the outline between the transformation handles and drag.

To distort shapes, press Control (Windows) or Command (Macintosh) and drag a corner handle or a side handle.

Motion tweening

Motion tween is nothing but tweening a Symbol's movement from one position to another. To implement Motion Tween all that you have to do is, provide Flash with Symbol's initial position and the end position.

Short for in-betweening, the process of generating intermediate frames between two images to give the appearance that the first image evolves smoothly into the second image.

Shape tweening.

In shape tweening, you draw a vector shape at one specific frame in the Timeline. And, change that shape or draw another shape at another specific frame. Animate then interpolates the intermediate shapes for the frames in between, creating the animation of one shape morphing into another

A Shape Tweens is a type of animation that is placed in a Layer and enables you to animate an objects Shape from one Shape to another. A Shape Tween layer has a green arrow.

Steps for creating shape tweening

1. Create a new Flash document. At the bottom of the workspace, click the Timeline panel’s tab to bring it forward.

2. On an empty layer, draw a shape (for example, a star or polygon with the Polystar tool) on Frame 1.

You can include a stroke and a fill, because the shape tween can handle both.

3. Click on Frame 25 and choose Insert→Timeline→Blank Keyframe.

Rather than choose the motion tween, we choose a blank keyframe because we don’t want a copy of the shape drawn on Frame 1 to be carried over to the new keyframe.

4. Draw a distinctively different shape on the new, blank keyframe on Frame 25.

5. Select Frame 1 and choose Insert→Shape Tween.

You see an arrow and a green shaded area appear between the starting and ending keyframes, indicating that you’ve successfully created a shape tween.

6. Turn on the Onion Skin Outlines option below the Timeline to see the frames that Flash has created for you.

7. If necessary, use the sliders that appear on the timeline ruler to show Onion Skin Outlines across the entire range of frames from beginning to end.

8.Symbols and instances in Flash

A symbol is a graphic, button, or movie clip that you create once in the Animate (formerly Flash Professional CC) authoring environment or by using the SimpleButton (AS 3.0) and MovieClip classes. ... An instance is a copy of a symbollocated on the Stage or nested inside another symbol.

Once you have a symbol, you can then use them in other symbols, or on the main stage. An occurrence of a symbol outside of the library is called an 'instance'. Virtually all of the work done in Flash is done with symbol instances.

The three types of symbols in Flash are:

The movie clip is one of three symbol types in Flash, and just like graphic symbols, they can be easily duplicated and maintained from a single master symbol in the library. Movie clips are unique in that each one contains its own timeline that looks and works just like the main one.Convert object to Symbols

1. Select one or more objects on the stage. ...2. Choose Modify > Convert to Symbol, or press the F8 key. ...3. Enter a name for the symbol into the Name field.4. Click the radio button for the type of symbol you want to create: a movie clip, button,

A symbol is a mark, sign or word that indicates, signifies, or is understood as representing an idea, object, or relationship

Instance

Once you have a symbol, you can then use them in other symbols, or on the main stage. An occurrence of a symbol outside of the library is called an 'instance'. Virtually all of the work done in Flash is done with symbol instances.

Each copy is called an instance. Besides making your life easier when you want to use a set of objects more than once, the use of symbols significantly reduces the size of your files. Understanding these types is important to understanding symbols and Flash animation in general.

Difference between Symbols and instance

The difference is that Flash stores the definition of the symbol in the Library. ... Instead of storing each instance that you use, Flash stores one definition for the symbol and refers to that definition each time you display an instance of the symbol. You can place symbols inside other symbols,

Adobe Flash is an animation technology that allows web developers to build dynamic content featuring multimedia and interactive applications. Flash content downloads quickly and can run on any browser that supports it and is equipped with the Adobe Flash Player plug.

7.GRAPHICS IN FLASH (Write about car program)

Graphic symbols are reusable static images that are used mainly to create animations. Any drawn vector/plain text/imported bitmap (photo), or combinations of these, can be converted into a single controllable object, called a graphic symbol.

Animate text in Flash, you basically break apart your text so you can animate

each one as a letter. Each letter has own layer. Learn how to use motion tweening to

start a timeline animation. Each letter can be scaled or rotated in its own layer,

creating individual animations of the letters.

Steps:

Use the Text tool and Break Apart effect.

Modify the Timeline with Distribute to layers.

Convert text to shapes.

Use Motion Tween animation effect.

 Adding some text

First, create a new document and use the Text tool to add some text to the

canvas. I’ll make a fairly short word to keep it simple here. You may need to make the

text bigger than the normal maximum of 96pt, so type a higher value in if you need to

Breaking it apart

Select the text, then choose Modify > Break Apart or press Command-B. This

turns the text box into several separate text boxes, one for each letter. (If we chose to

Break Apart again, we’d convert it into outlines, but we don’t want to do that this

time.)

Time to work

Select a range of frames in a vertical line, as far down the timeline as you want

your animation to last, covering all your letters. Press F5 to Insert Frames, and we

have something to work with

Fixing the end points

Select another range of frames across all your layers, about 70% of the way

along the timeline, and press F6 to create some keyframes. This will stop the

animation.

Changing the start

Move the playhead to the start of the movie. Select each letter in turn, move it

away from the start point by pressing Shift-Up or Shift-Down a few times, then use

Properties to set the Color Effect to Alpha at 0%.
