Weekend NewsIntroductionToday we are going to be writing a diary about what we did at the weekend. Let’s all have a think about some of the fun things we did at the weekend.

Key Questions:- What did you do over the weekend?- Did you play with your brother or sister? - Did you look after your pet? - Did you watch your favourite movie? - Did you draw a picture? - Did you help make lunch? - Did you play in your garden?

Task:In your distance learning book, write a diary about your weekend news. Remember to capital letters, finger spaces and full stops.

Example:

Dear Diary,

In the morning I played fetch with my dog in the garden He is called Biscuit. Later I played on the swing and I went really high. After that I spend some time with my family and we had dinner together.

Bye for now.

Days of the Week

Introduction Today we will be learning our days of the week and saying them in the correct order.

Key Questions- Can you name the days in order?- Which days are the weekdays?

Weekend?- Which day comes after…?- Which day comes before…?

Task:Today you will complete the task by filling in the correct day that comes before and after the one in the middle.. Remember to upload a picture of this activity on your dojo portfolio.

Mon Story: Little Red Riding Hood Months of the Year

20th IntroductionThis week we are going to read a new story called ‘Little Red Riding Hood’. You will be asked questions about the story, so listen carefully.

Key Questions:- Has anyone read this story before?- What characters are in this story?- Can you remember what happened in the story?

Task: You are going listen to the story and answer questions about the story ‘Little Red Riding Hood’. Your task is video yourself retelling the story. Think about what happened at the beginning, middle and end. Remember to send your videos to your teacher on Class Dojo.

Using a Calendar

Key Questions: - Can you name the characters in the story?- Is the Wolf a good or bad character? Why?- Can you describe the Wolf?

Task: The Wolf is a bad character so the police are looking for him, but they can’t remember what he looks like. Can you make a WANTED Poster to help find the Wolf?You will need to:

1. Write the heading WANTED.2. Draw a picture of the Wolf.3. Write sentences describing the Wolf.

Example:

The Wolf is mean because he hurt the Grandma. He has grey fur and big pointy ears. He has sharp claws and teeth. He has a long nose so he is very good at smelling things. His tail is bushy and grey.

Yesterday you learned all about the months of the year, so today you will learn a bit about a calendar and what we use them for. They are very helpful when we want to plan what we do each day, and they also help us to remember what date and day it is!

Thur Spellings Beat the Maths – Counting Backwards

Introduction:Every Thursday we want to practice our spellings. You have been practicing your spelling words each day, so now it is time to do your weekly spelling test.

Task:You have been practicing your spelling words each day, so now it is time to do your weekly spelling test. The Spelling Test will be done in the Microsoft Teams LIVE session at 9:00.

1. Each word will be read out loud.2. The child says the word out loud.3. The word is put into a sentence. 4. The child writes down the spelling word.5. At the end of the test the children will mark their work

and correct it if they need to.

e.g.The word is fell.Say the word fell.The boy fell over in the garden.Write down the word fell.

Introduction Today you will be learning to count backwards starting from the biggest number in your head. You will be asked to complete some questions within 3 minutes. Remember we must remember to count backwards from the biggest number.
