Key Responsibilities

As part of the senior management team you will be responsible for the welfare of the house residents, to promote their independence and health, to liaise with outside agencies over their care and wellbeing, to implement doctors’ instructions, to supervise the administration of drugs and medication and keep them secure, to organise social activities, to involve the residents’ relatives and friends in the interest of individual residents, to report to the Chief Executive on special cases where the continuing care of any resident is causing particular concern and to ensure that the correct procedures are followed in the event of the death of a resident, to keep up to date with changing ideas in care and generally provide security and stability in a homely environment.

To ensure agreed actions are delivered within approved timescales, to identify concerns through robust quality assurance monitoring mechanisms (e.g. QA audits, monthly audits etc) agreeing and implementing any actions whilst ensuring lessons learnt are shared appropriately.

Investigate and manage all complaints, safeguarding concerns, accidents or contagious illnesses, reporting in accordance with policy and CQC requirements, ensuring outcomes and lessons learnt are recorded, implemented and shared.

Ensure Rockdale House meets all regulatory and statutory requirements including CQC, fire, health and safety, (ensuring that at least one member of the house staff is qualified to First Aider standards) COSHH, employment and compliance with the appropriate Acts. Ensure associated risk assessment are undertaken and recorded at least annually or as required by legislation or regulators in conjunction with the Head of Maintenance.To be responsible for admissions to Rockdale House, to follow agreed policies and procedures to ensure that Rockdale House is serving those in the greatest need, to minimise voids, to access prospective residents and ensure that proper procedures are in place to reduce the stress of residential admission and of living in a residential community and to obtain financial support.

with the Head of Maintenance with regards to maintenance, to replace furnishings, furniture and equipment as it becomes unserviceable all within budget constraints.

To supervise the staff employed in Rockdale House, to be responsible for their recruitment in conjunction with the HR department, to contribute to the creation and maintenance of good staff relationships, to be responsible for recording, monitoring and controlling holiday and sick leave, to be responsible for staff training and development, to hold regular staff meetings, monitor their work and carry out regular assessments of their performance, to ensure the home is properly staffed at all times.

To be responsible for the maintenance of records, to ensure that proper written records are kept as required by the CQC and the Chief Executive and generally to establish and maintain efficient administrative systems both within Rockdale House and in its dealings with other departments.

To be aware that the Association actively encourages a high level of involvement from residents in the management of their homes and the services provided: to assist residents to become involved whenever possible.

To be fully committed to the Association’s mission statement, and the statement of aims for Rockdale House, to act as an ambassador at external meetings and promote the Associations work as a whole, to attend senior staff meetings and report to the Chief Executive and Board as required. To understand and contribute to drafting the Association’s Business Plan, to contribute to drafting the budget for Rockdale House, to monitor house expenditure and to keep within the budget constraints.

To undertake and other duties consistent with the overall aim of the job as required by the Chief Executive.

Hours of workFull time, Permanent, 40 hours plus per week

Salary£48,000- £52,500 per annum (depending on experience)
