Diploma in Creative Media Production & TechnologyProject proposal template In producing the project proposal, and in preparing for the project realisation, you should familiarise yourself with Unit 8 of the qualification.

In particular, you should understand the assessment and grading criteria which will be used to determine standards of achievement.

Unit 8 requires you to produce a project proposal of about 350 words, excluding the project action plan and bibliography. Project proposals should not be so succinct that they do not address the requirements listed below, nor should they be excessively long and unfocused.

Your project proposal should be sufficiently challenging to ensure you have the best possible chance of meeting the grading criteria.

Your project proposal should include: Centre name and number Candidate name and number Project proposal title and date Main area of activity/ pathway, e.g. film, TV, games design etc.

The project proposal must be word processed and presented under the headings listed here:

Section 1 - Rationale (Approximately 100 words)

This section provides you with an opportunity to reflect on, review and summarise your progress and achievements through the first seven units of the qualification, and the knowledge, skills and understanding you have acquired; What you know now, and what it means to you, compared with what you knew and could do before you started the course and how this has influenced your choice of pathway and your project proposal.

Section 2 – Project concept (Approximately 200 words)

This section provides an opportunity for you to clearly explain the concept and aims of your project, the research and ideas that will support its development, what you anticipate producing, the levels and types of resources that you will need and an indication of the form in which you will complete and present your project realisation within the allocated timescale.

Section 3 - Evaluation (Approximately 50 words)

This section provides an opportunity for you to explain how you will reflect on and evaluate your work, as both an ongoing activity and at the conclusion of the project.

You should describe how you intend to record your decision-making and how you will document changes to your ideas as the project progresses. The evaluation section should reference your stated aims and be reflective and analytical rather than a description of actions completed.

When working in collaboration with others, you should comment on how this may impact either positively or adversely and outline the steps you can take to minimise disruption to your own progress.

Additional requirements, not included in the 350word limit of the proposal:

Project action plan and timetable: This section provides you with an opportunity to outline your planning and organisation over a period of weeks and the activities you will need to carry out in order to successfully complete your project in the agreed time frame. The more time and thought you give to planning your project, the more successful it is likely to be.

It is important that you consider how you will balance ambition, time and realism in the realisation of the project. You should also include what you are going to do, how you will do it and by when. Remember to include: time spent sourcing materials and other resources to conduct research, seek feedback from tutors and peers, and identify when you will carry out independent study.

Bibliography (Harvard Format):This section provides an opportunity to record the initial research sources, both primary and secondary, that you intend to use.

Your sources of research should be as wide as possible and could include libraries, galleries, books, magazines, films, computer games, websites, blogs, social media, radio programmes, archive material etc. Where appropriate, you should use the Harvard system of referencing. The bibliography should be continuously updated as the project progresses.

Candidate Name

Stacey Francesca Johnson

Candidate NumberPathway

Project Title London Photography

Section 1: Review (Approx 100 words)My progress has improved since the start of the course, the units used in the course helped me express my creative side. Media is an expressive subject and it helped me progress in the start of the course. Alongside Media I study Photography which is also cooperated into Media too. However I go in more depth in Photography. These Media subjects have gave me knowledge and have guided me into my preferred career which is Photography. What I have learnt has prepared me for future projects and this final project this year. The units mean a lot as it is what is used in the media industry. It is important for a student to experience and learn the different media elements in the working society. We get a look at Journalism, Film, Radio, TV and more. I could of went more in depth beforehand as in coming prepared for the course which I did to an extent. The level two (one year course) helped me improve my confidence in the subject media in all types of sectors. It also made me have more engagement in the subject and interest. Media really has expressed my creativity and has let me improve.

Section 2: Project Concept (approx 200 words)The aims for my project is to express my creativity throughout photography. I will do this by visiting areas in London. Stratford, Walthamstow, Leyton etc. This will have a diverse look and link to the theme of the assignment which is London. I will go around taking pictures of teenagers and young adults and would be asking them their opinion on London. “What do you like about London”? I will research London photography and locations. My ideas and research will support my end project. The types of resources I may need is props for the models, I’m not sure or refined what props I may use or even used. My concept will be quite clear as I will include all finished pictures in a photobook to be presented as the finished product. In my photoshoot I will try to include as much ethnicities so It is diverse as possible. In my own opinion London means culture, unique and freedom in speech. I will translate my opinion into my creativity by embedding it in my pictures. I will include questionnaires, feedback, etc. so I have a good idea on what my audience is into, and what interests they have. This will build and structure my product in the right direction. The photobook will be very clear to my audience, I will make sure that denotations & connotations of my images are involved as elements will be used including London and what the city is about.

Section 3: Evaluation (approx 50 words)I will record my work by taking a daily blog, so I keep up to date with my work and aims of the day. By doing this I will be organised and influenced to complete relevant tasks such as photography shoots etc. I will also take note of my decision making such as changes to my work. As I’m doing Photography it is different compared to various students in the class doing film or editing. I feel that my product will be different and unique. Collaborations will be considered as Photography isn’t really group media, and don’t really involve too many people as the main person should be the photographer.

Proposed Research Sources and Bibliography (Harvard Format)Google- I will take various shots around London of selected models. Various nationalities

and ethnicities.
