A word from the presidentDear young chemists,
After the 2017 seminar of the SCF which took place on November 27th and 28th, please find some news and new features brought back for you from there by your executive board of the RJ-SCF in the document below. Please find among the news the “Grain de sel du réseau” dedicated to the presentation of your new executive board of the RJ-SCF. You may also find in the table of content of your first newsletter:

The SCF’18 congress is approaching ! Do not hesitate to submit your résumé on the website and come to share and spread your chemistry! You will also find in the two documents above:
1. The announcement of the general public week-end of the SCF’18 congress and an invitation to come and participate.
2. A call for volunteer to be involved in the local organisation of the SCF’18 congress.

As in every February, please find two unavoidable rendez-vous for young chemists looking for internship placements or job positions:
The “forum horizon chimie” which will take place on February 1 st 2018 at “la maison de la chimie” in Paris – see the website dedicated to this event here
The “village de la chimie” will take place on February 9th and 10th 2018 at the “parc floral de Paris” – see the website dedicated to this event here.
The RJ-SCF will be present at the “village de la chimie” on Saturday 10th of February with the SCF which will hold a booth at both events to host you during them : advice for C.Vs, delivery of issues from “l’actualité chimique”, information about the SCF and the RJ-SCF!
The RJ-SCF proposes a reminder of its call for volunteers to write short articles for the website “CultureSciences-Chimie” (see document above). Indeed, the RJ-SCF aims to promote chemistry with teachers and students from high school to university while offering the opportunity to young chemists to try out article writing for science popularisation to several levels. If you are interested, please contact us or directly “CultureSciences – Chimie” to present your work or a subject of strong interest.
IUPAC and the RJ-SCF launch jointly a call for volunteers (see document above) to be involved in the local organisation of the IUPAC 2019 congress. Do not hesitate to join the RJ-SCF in the local organisation of such an important international congress which will be held in Paris. That year will be the 100 years anniversary of IUPAC and the 150 years anniversary of the periodic table.

A new job position for a post doctoral fellowship is available on the SCF website, job section here. Focus: organometallic frameworks and computational sciences at the « Institut Charles-Gerhardt » (ICG) in Montpellier.

Live from the SCF and « l’actualité chimique »
In January 2018, the « actualité chimique découverte » has been launched. You can find all the details of this launch in the document above. You can also watch the cover video by following this link.
You may also find the “Grain de sel du réseau” of December 2017 in which your new RJ-SCF executive board is presented to the readers.
Finally, you can consult the “Grain de sel du réseau” of January 2018 which is focused on the employement of doctors having defended their PhD thesis in 2010 (CEREQ study).

Please find the newsletter of the IYCN (see document above) of december 2017. The network was born in 2017 in Brazil, learn more about it by following this link and going on its website.
The IYCN also launches a call for volunteers to be involved in its international executive board. A position of Finance team lead and Website manager (social media) are open.
