Listen to the story of ‘The Paper Dolls’ – link belowhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0BuURAo5f3k

The little girl in the story used her imagination a lot and took her dolls to lots of different places! But then the little boy cut them all up and she could only have them in her memory. She couldn’t see them but she knew they were still there.

This is how some people feel about God. They feel God’s presence, even if they can’t see him. Have a look on the next page at the work we did around this in class. ‘God is like a flower because he helps us to grow.’

What to doThink about the Christian faith and what we learnt about what Mary believed.

Rewatch the bible story which I have linked below if it will help you.

The Parable of the Lost Sonhttps://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/clips/zsmpvcw

How did the Father in the story react to his son returning home? How did he treat him? Was this the right way to treat him?

Think about what you know about the Christian faith. How would God want Christians to behaviour in our current situation?

Can you wrap and decorate a box (see next page for ideas) and write some little messages to post through about what Christians could do or say in this situation? What would Mary do?

Children may find it difficult to articulate their learning so please help them by asking them questions to prompt them. Relate the learning to their own beliefs.

ReflectionWhen you reflect upon Mary and her beliefs, can you think about your own faith and what you or somebody in your family may do/say during this time.

Next StepsDo you share any of the same beliefs as Mary about how we should look after each other during this time?
