Process Journal # 24: 01/02/15 (1st of February 2015)

I'm finally finished interviewing everyone for my documentary because yesterday I'd

interviewed the last person, which was my sister (Anne). There are little clips here and there I

still need to do because in those clips I summarize and discuss about how the interviews went.

Filming these little clips won't take too long, therefore I ought to film those little clips as soon as

possible so I could start editing my documentary. I just want to mention that my head would of

crushed by now if I had interviewed my godfather this week because apparently a giant rock fell

from the ceiling into his office. This was rather peculiar...

Rock that fell out of nowhere:

The interview with Anne was really interesting because she shared her own experiences during

confirmation. She pretty much summarized how my confirmation was going to turn out and

how my life will be like after confirmation. She also mentions how the confirmation activities

she did has made her into a much more independent individual. The main reason I'm

interviewing Anne is because I'm going through the same confirmation process as she did and

by interviewing her I will have a better understanding to how my confirmation is going to turn

out. With this final interview I finally understand why I'm doing this confirmation process

anyways, because confirmation leads you to living a much more understandable and open-

minded life. Therefore by the end of confirmation, I believe that I'm going to be a much better

inquirer.

My Interview with Anne Ravikumar (my sister):

(Check out the cut scene in my Blog)

This week I also evaluated the Tranceformer documentary with OPVL, but I still need to evaluate

rest of my sources. When I'm finished my documentary I need to evaluate and test it, therefore

I've decided show my documentary to one of my classmates and to my confirmation class

because I want them to evaluate my product to according the design specification. Therefore

this Saturday in my confirmation class I've planned with Eric that I'm going to show my

documentary to my confirmation classmates. After they finish watching the documentary, I will

then give questions to them according to my design specification.

My Design Specification:

Specification How to achieve?

- Has a Narrative Narrator is consistent and has a flow in narration.

- Documentary should be suitable for upper school students, classes such as Grade 8 and over (13 years – 16 years).

Use academic language that teenagers are familiar with.

- Interviews should be related to the topic. Questions asked and information used should be directly connected to

confirmation.

- The documentary time should range from 30 – 40 mins.

Interviews should be concise and right to the point, hence being within the time limit.

- Flow in narration and consistent Use the same tone of language while being original, coherent and interesting.

- Use of melodiousness background music An example of potential background music is Elegance And Passion.

- Acknowledge any help Have credits at the end of the documentary.

- Documentary must have more than one perspective.

I will interview people from different backgrounds that have different viewpoints.

- Adequate video composition I will use conventional camera angles, lighting, framing of shot, etc.

- Appropriate location and backdrop I will use a backdrop, which will have neutral colours that won’t disturb the audience attention.

I should have around 18 – 22 people testing my product (including one of my school classmate).

I believe that my documentary will help my confirmation classmates to reflect upon how their

confirmation has been so far and what they will do after confirmation. They might even learn

something new from watching my documentary.

As an IB learner I’ve been a “reflective” about how my confirmation is going so far. As I

interviewed Anne, I was able to reflect about all the things I had done and participated in my

confirmation classes and whether I’ve achieved anything so far. I’ve might of not achieved

anything big during confirmation classes, but I’ve fore sure learnt a lot of new things that I can

always reflective upon. By next week I should pretty much be finished with everything,

especially my documentary so I could show it during my confirmation class. I’ve ought to also

get started with the written report because the deadline is slowly creeping up.
