DECRA EOI 2016 ARC DECRA Grants for funding in 2017 Information to consider before submitting an ARC DECRA Grant EOI: Context The ARC Discovery Early Career Researcher Award (DECRA) scheme aims to support and advance promising early career researchers by providing enhanced opportunities for diverse career pathways. The focus is on research in the National Research Priority areas so as to improve research capacity and policy outcomes. The Award supports research and research training being undertaken in high quality and supportive environments by researchers up to five years post PhD or within nine years post PhD when significant career disruption has been experienced. Information to consider before submitting an ARC DECRA Grant EOI:

ContextThe ARC Discovery Early Career Researcher Award (DECRA) scheme aims to support and advance promising early career researchers by providing enhanced opportunities for diverse career pathways. The focus is on research in the National Research Priority areas so as to improve research capacity and policy outcomes. The Award supports research and research training being undertaken in high quality and supportive environments by researchers up to five years post PhD or within nine years post PhD when significant career disruption has been experienced.

EOI AssessmentThe EOI process will examine criteria such as:

Excitement, rigour and innovation of the proposed project Publication intensity, citation analyses and academic impact in the field – track record Capability and experience of the applicant Supportive research environment Alignment with UWS research strengths and themes Potential impact beyond academia – research translation

PurposeThe purpose is to ensure applicants are provided with the best possible support, to maximise the University’s success and reputation in major competitive rounds, and to ensure that only high quality proposals are submitted.

ProcessThe EOI process will be lead by the Pro Vice-Chancellor (Research and Innovation) and assessed by an EOI Assessment Panel comprising a HASS and STEM Lead Strategist, the AOU Research Director, Professoriate, Director of Research Services, Senior Project Development Manager and Research Development Officer.

EOI OutcomesThe ORS will provide written feedback to each researcher who submits an EOI in this round.
