Association of Biomedical Andrologists

Annual General Meeting – 24th May 2018 Call for Abstracts/Posters

Don’t miss the chance to present your latest work at the ABA AGAM on 24th May 2018 in Leeds.

The ABA is inviting members and Executive Committee members alike to submit an abstract about anything that might be of interest to our fellow andrologists.

If your abstract is accepted, you will either be invited to give an oral presentation (10 mins) or a poster presentation. Please state if you wish to be considered for a poster only.

GUIDELINES FOR ABSTRACT SUBMISSION:

1. The abstract should be scientifically sound and research ethically approved. All co-authors must have seen and approved the abstract that is submitted. The lead author will be expected to attend the meeting and present as either an oral or poster presentation.

2. You are allowed a maximum number of 250 words in the abstract body. This does not include the title which can be up to 500 characters (including spaces and punctuation).

3. Please do not include author details in the body of the abstract or in the abstract title. You can provide author details and affiliations separately.

4. The ‘Full title’ should be presented sentence case (not in block capitals), i.e. only the first letter of the title or appropriate terms such as abbreviations or proper nouns should be upper case.

5. Please do not include tables, figures or references in the abstract.

6. The abstract should be as informative as possible. Where possible, abstracts should be structured in three sections, as shown below: Introduction: Summarise the background and rationale for the study. End with a clear statement of the specific objective(s) of the study. Methods: State the method(s) used and define the study design. Results & Discussion: Summarise results obtained and your interpretation of the findings. End with a clear statement of the conclusion(s) reached.

7. We also welcome abstracts covering service reviews, case studies and other discursive evaluations. Submissions that do not fit with the above format should be constructed appropriately within word restrictions and will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

8. If accepted, the lead author will be expected to attend the meeting and provide the presentation. The abstract will appear in both the conference handbook and on our website.

9. Please submit your abstract by email to Mrs Sue Kenworthy at [email protected]. The deadline for submissions is 31st of March 2018. You will be notified within 2 weeks if your abstract has been accepted. You will then be provided with further details relating to your presentation.

10. Two prizes will be awarded on the day: one for the best oral presentation and one for the best poster presentation.

11. Please note that failure to register for the conference will result in your abstract being withdrawn. If this does happen the ABA accepts no responsibility for any monetary loss by the presenter.
