2018 PA-ACTE AWARDS PROGRAM

The 2018 PA-ACTE Awards Program is now open to accept nominations. Please use this opportunity to nominate an individual or program for their excellence in career and technical education.

The Awards Program is composed of three categories. The PA-ACTE awards include member awards and non-member awards. The member award categories require both the nominator and the nominee be members of PA-ACTE, - further, self-nomination is permitted in this award category. The non-member awards require the nominator to be a member of PA-ACTE; however, the nominee does not have to be a member of PA-ACTE. The PA-ACTE Member Awards are aligned with the ACTE Region 1 and National Member Awards.

The third category, the ACTE Image Awards, is open to all PA-ACTE members and is conducted at the National level. Nomination procedures and further information for the ACTE Image Awards Program are available at the ACTE website https://www.acteonline.org/image_award/

Education Member Awards Program

Purpose of Awards & Award Categories

Purpose of Awards: To recognize outstanding Career & Technical Professionals who are making significant contributions to career and technical education programs in their schools and/or communities.

Eligibility: Nominees for these seven awards MUST BE A MEMBER of the Pennsylvania Association for Career and Technical Education.

Award Categories: The Awards Program is composed of two categories. These include member awards and non-member awards. The member award categories require both the nominator and the nominee be members of PA-ACTE. The non-member awards require the nominator to be a member of PA-ACTE; however, the nominee does not have to be a member of PA-ACTE. The PA-ACTE Member Awards are aligned with the ACTE Region 1 and National Member Awards. The PA-ACTE Awards in the member and non-member categories include:

Member Awards

PA-ACTE Teacher of the Year – To recognize an individual currently employed as a full-time classroom teacher in Career and Technical Education for more than five years. Use Nomination Form “A”

PA-ACTE New Teacher of the Year - To recognize an individual employed as full-time Career and Technical classroom teachers for a minimum of three, but not more than five years. Use Nomination Form “A”

PA-ACTE Post-Secondary Teacher of the Year - To recognize an individual employed as full-time teachers in post-secondary institutions. Use Nomination Form “A”

PA-ACTE Administrator of the Year - To recognize an individual employed as Career and Technical Education Program Administrators. Use Nomination Form “A”

PA-ACTE Career Guidance Person of the Year - To recognize a Career Guidance Professional who is making significant contributions to career and technical education guidance programs in their schools and/or communities. Use Nomination Form “B”

PA-ACTE Lifetime Achievement Award – To recognize an individual for their contributions and distinguished accomplishments to career and technical education throughout their career or over an extended period of time. Use Nomination Form “A”

PA-ACTE Program of the Year- To recognize an exemplary Career and Technical Education Program that has made a significant contribution to student growth and achievement and/or the advancement of whole school goals. Use Nomination Form “C”

PA-ACTE Career Guidance Person of the Year Award

The purpose of the PA-ACTE Career Guidance Award is to recognize school counselors and career development professionals who are currently making significant contributions in career and technical education programs in their communities and/or states. Recipients of this award must have made significant contributions to advocate, educate and communicate the value of CTE as a viable career option to a variety of audiences, including students and adults. They must also demonstrate exemplary efforts in helping students and/or adults evaluate their abilities, interests and talents that encourage them to develop academic and career goals aligned with career and technical education.

Eligibility

Individuals who are currently employed as full-time baccalaureate school counselors and/or career development professionals involved in career and technical education. A nominee should be a member of PA- ACTE at the time of nomination.

Application Procedures

All materials must be submitted electronically for items 1-6 in one single PDF file, photo in separate JPG file. Each nominee shall be evaluated on the following components:

1. Description of innovative programs and/or significant accomplishments in career and technical education. Maximum of two pages written in 1st or 3rd person in paragraph format

2. Description of career and technical education membership and/or affiliations (to include leadership responsibilities and activities).

3. Maximum of one page written in 1st or 3rd person in paragraph or list format Description of community involvement (to include industry/business partnerships, community activities and/or contributions).

4. Maximum of one page written in 1st or 3rd person in paragraph or list format Share a personal story of significance in career and technical education 500 words or less, written in 1st person in paragraph format

Interview: No interview is required for the PA-ACTE award application process. An interview is required for nominations at the Regional and National levels. Specifications for the interviews will be provided to Regional and National nominees prior to the Annual Convention.
