Gaeilge: TG4 will be broadcasting a new programme called “Ar Scoil” weekdays at 10 a.m. – this will be similar to the RTÉ HomeSchool Hub but will be through Irish. Our topic is “An Teilifís” (Television). EDCO have kindly given access to the interactive Bua na Cainte programme which can be downloaded using the following steps:

1. Go to www.edco.ie/bua2. Select the file which suits your computer PC or MAC3. Select the Class Level you require (Senior Infants), then click on it to start a

download of the file4. Once the download has completed, click on the file to install and follow the on-

screen instructions.5. A Bua na Cainte icon will appear on your desktop. Once you select this icon a

login page will open where you will need to enter the details included belowLogin: trialPassword: trial

Once you have accessed Bua na Cainte, select “An Teilifís” from the themes and Ceacht 9. There are lovely songs and interactive games which can all be done over the week (Please don’t feel under pressure to complete each game/activity that accompanies each lesson). The song learned last week would be a lovely way to begin each lesson, it can be found under the “Rainn” tab at the bottom of An Teilifís – please select Tá feirm ag an bhfeirmeoir (Old McDonald had a farm)Activities:Revise running/walking quickly or slowly. (Bí ag rith go tapa – Run quickly; Bí ag rith go mall – run slowly; Bí ag siúl go tapa – Walk quickly; Bí ag siúl go mall – Walk slowly). Please use images attached to aid your child’s learning. Ceacht 9: Is based on the idea of “Pin the tail on the Donkey” (Cuir eireaball ar an asal). A lovely activity to encourage your child to use the language would be to either draw/print animals and ask your child to put a tail on them. Again the images below will help with this. The next part of the lesson is distinguishing between a long tail (eireaball fada) and short tail (eireaball gearr).

Féach _____. (ar an moncaí, ar an gcapall, ar an asal, ar an gcoinín, ar an muc, ar an gcaora).

Look ______. (At the monkey, at the horse, at the donkey, at the rabbit, at the pig, at the sheep).

S.E.S.E: (History, Geography, Science)We have outlined the learning objectives for these subjects below. These activities are covered over a two-week period.Senior students have been busy learning about Europe and the EU this school year and would appreciate everyone's help to complete their project. Our challenge is to celebrate Europe Day on May 9th but this can be done anytime between May 5th and May 15th. Simply choose a European country, make its flag and email a photo to [email protected] (feel free to include some text about the picture such as the country being celebrated as well as the students involved and the class level they are in).If you have a special connection to a European country why not get creative and take a photo of anything in your household linked to that country - traditional dress, traditional food, traditional dance. It’s your choice! Get creative, take a photo and email it to Mr. Murray. Anything connected to a European country (including Ireland) is acceptable! Please be advised that photos might be shared on the school website and might be included in an application to be forwarded to the Blue Star Programme team (https://www.bluestarprogramme.ie/) on the week of May 18th. The deadline to email a photo is Friday 15th May.If our work is of a good standard we will be awarded a Blue Star European Union Flag for the school! If we work together we will achieve!
