Production angle, how and whyThe production angle we took was informative because we felt both sides has false assumptions of the others opinions and therefore we want our documentary to work as a source where both sides of the argument are presented.
We plan to do this by providing both sides of the argument in interviews with residents of both communities in the Wokingham area.
We wanted to create this documentary because Jason lives in the Wokingham area and as someone who knows of the tension between the communities, he thought it would be good to shine a light on a social action in his community.
A production layout (beginning, middle and end)Opening:We tell the audience past things that have happened in Wokingham, and we start with interviews with local people about the Gypsies in Wokingham.
Middle:We show our interview with the council and discuss the plans to make more legal sites for gypsies to live on. We then show them some gypsies and their home showing them in their everyday life.
End:We conclude what we have learned in the documentary and what can be done to improve this issue.
Target Audience and why
The target audience for my production is people aged 30-85 living in the Wokingham Borough area. I have chosen this age range because this is the people who are most likely to tune into Social Action documentaries. In addition, I am targeting it at the Wokingham area because that is where my documentary is trying to make an impact and it can only make an impact by hitting hard to the people who the movie is trying to effect.Where your video will be uploaded / shown
My social action will be uploaded to YouTube, as it is such a widely available platform there is a high chance the movie could spread through social media. We will also make it available on the iPlayer, as this will appeal to my target audience more.

The documentary aims to be educational by showing the opinions of both sides of arguments without any bias. Only displaying facts our documentary is trying to provide both sides with the actual opinions on each other without any skewed information.
Possible discrimination against me and my crew for not being gypsies when asking for interviews.
The issue effects the community poorly because it creates tension between the gypsy community and the surrounding communities than can sometimes end in conflict.

Production
Before you go off and film please be aware of the following.
PRODUCTION TIPS:
Interview in relevant locations
Make sure there is no background noise when filming - ask to turn off all machines or film in a quiet location and if outside try and use a wind cover and microphone.
Use TWO cameras when filming - One following the interviewer and one following you as you had with your multi camera unit
Get MORE footage than you need - you can always cut items out but you can't add once you have filmed
Think about how you want the final product to look before you start filming
Add archive footage (clips, newspaper clippings, footage from news stories etc...) but ALWAYS reference them on screen and make sure you have permission to use them
Once filming is finished make sure the following is complete BEFORE you start to edit your production

1 Wokingham has a problem with gypsys, this is what a lot
of people would say. However is this truly the case? I
intend to find out. Me and two collieges go into
Wokingham to see if it is as bad as people say it is.
2 We are now on our way to the pinewood sight in
Wokingham. We just want to see what the housing is like
and what the general feel is like because we haven’t been
inside a park before,
3 As you can see from the sight, just on the outside you can
see a lot of waste that the gypsys leave. However inside it
looks quite clean and well kept.
5 The Wokingham council has plans to add two more pitch
sights to the area; this will increase the amount of
travelers in the area by a lot. We wanted to see what
Wokingham residents had to think about this so we got in
touch with Wokingham resident Melanie young.
7 As you can see this is one person who has experienced
hostility from the gypsys, people in the area clearly have
an issue with the travelling community. This made me
wonder what did travelers think of this, we were lucky
enough to get an interview with traveler dan hill.
9 Gypsys have a much more laid back approach. I think in
order for a compromise both travelers and settled people
in to come together to co-exist peacefully.
