Instructions: Go through the poem carefully and answer the following questions.
What is the difference between a house and a home?
Theme of the Poem –
The poet underlines the difference between a house and a home. He says that a house is made of lifeless things like bricks, stones, cement and other materials whereas this lifeless structure can be called home only when it is peopled by loving and caring members. A home gives us comfort, peace, love, care whereas a house is just a roof above our head protecting us from Sun and rain. It is the members of our family who make a house (a dwelling )--a loved home. The building of our house ceases to be a home if we take away the members of our family from it. Even a palatial house cannot be called home if the loving members of the family do not reside in it. The poet persuades us to value our parents, grandparents, siblings as they give us unconditional love, care and support. We would be lonely and anxious if we did not have these relatives in our life so we should nurture our bond with our loved ones.
