Process Journal # 23: 25/01/15 (25th of January 2015)
This week went as I had planned because I've interviewed my godfather and I've started
evaluating sources. I decided not to have the interview at my godfather's place because
there would be a lot of disturbance and noise in the house. Therefore asked my
godfather if there could possibly be a quieter place, and he suggested interviewing him
on Saturday in his office. Interviewing at his office was very quite and peaceful because
no one was there. Therefore as I expected the interview went smoothly.
This interview gave me a much better understanding of what roles godparents have
during and after confirmation. I learnt that godparents play a big role when it comes to
confirmation because they are guiding us to receive the Holy Spirit fully. My godparents
are pretty much my mentors for rest of my life because in this interview I learnt that
godparents would always be guiding me, even when we are confirmed and matured.
Therefore godparents play a key role when it comes to confirmation.
My Interview with Elmer Edward (MY GODFATHER):
This week I gave out surveys to grade 8, 9, and 10 because I wanted to gather more
information. This survey was only for those people who are in the process of getting
confirmed or for those who are already confirmed. Therefore I only got to hand out
surveys to 9 students in ISB. I also gave out 5 more surveys to some of my confirmation
class students because 9 students weren't enough. So far I've only got 10 surveys back
and I still need to gather the missing 4 surveys. I've got all the 5 surveys back from my
confirmation classmates, but I'm missing 2 from grade 8, 1 from grade 9, and 1 from
grade 10. I have to gather the missing 4 surveys soon as possible because with the
surveys I can conclude lot of information.
I've started evaluating the Lars von Trier documentary with OPVL (Origin, Purpose,
Value, Limitations) because the Tranceformer documentary is one of my main sources.
Another source I'm planning to evaluate with OPVL is a book called “Shaping the Church:
The Promise of Implicit Theology.” This book is written by Martyn Percy who is a
reputable professor and is a member of various established colleges and corporations.
This was a worthwhile book to look at because it talks about how confirmation is a
sociological part of religion. Evaluating this book with OPVL will help me figure out how
this book was useful to me.
As an IB learner I’ve been a “Knowledgeable” student because I’m always exploring new
ideas and issues. I always face new issues and I try to always try to solve them. Just the
other day I also went to the UIB reception because of the interview for my documentary.
The lady in the reception told me that people in the UIB are busy lately, but if there was
someone available she was going to contact me. Personally I think that the interview
with someone from the UIB isn’t going to work out because of the deadline closing up.
Therefore I’m going to leave out this interview, but who knows things might change in
the last minute. By next week I will have my final interview with my sister and I will
have all of main sources evaluated with OPVL. Instead of interviewing my sister I though
of interviewing my sisters friend called “Naomi” because she is also a catholic confirmed
girl from France, however Naomi seems to be busy lately and she told me that she would
contact me if she were available this week. If she isn’t available, I’ll just interview my
sister because she was also catholically confirmed as well.
