Oriental lip balm We began to create the ideas for this empowering advertisement for oriental lip balm, we chose this out of many other random objects such as smart water and a coke can because me and my partner (Sammy) both like make-up and beauty therefore we had the right ideas to make this advert the best it can possibly be. The fact that it is a lip balm made our thought originally spring to the lips and to concentrate on them as we did throughout the entire advertisement, we then began to research already existing lip product adverts to then realise how fake the people were and hoe unrealistic the beauty standards were of the women/ models. This made us decide to make an advert which was just as over the top as the professional ones were with a humour twist at the end to prove that we were not like the edited photos displayed on our screens. We went out and took lots of photos with white backgrounds to exaggerate the unrealism we decided to do it this way with lots of photographs as we saw a misguided advert use the same style and became inspired. However, we did add in one video of us walking away oozing confidence as the camera was at a low angle making us seem more powerful now we had used the oriental lip balm. Once we had all the clips we needed we began editing he photos and video clips, we edited the images so that they almost looked fake smoothing everything out and even whitening teeth. We originally wanted to use the lines to create a moving animation on the photos, but we proved to not have enough time to complete this and decided to stick with still animation. The still animation eludes the unrealism still and also adds to making the video as “extra” as possible

Once we had all the clips we needed we began editing he photos and video clips, we edited the images so that they almost looked fake smoothing

everything out and even whitening teeth. We originally wanted to use the lines to create a moving animation on the photos, but we proved to not have enough time to complete this and decided to stick with still animation. The still animation eludes the unrealism still and also adds to making the video as “extra” as possible

Throughout the advert we mostly use a level camera angle to show that the buyer and the balm are equal, and neither is too good for the other, we also use extreme close ups on he lips to show off the product and how beneficial it is to your lips and it will instantly make you as confident and “sassy” as us in the advertisement. The last video clip added in was an accident but when added in it created humour into the feel of the video and grounded it which we wanted to show and express that we were just acting in the advertisement and aren’t actually like that.

The music we used was called blow your mind by Dua Lipa which we agreed would be relevant music for an advertisement for lips as it has the sound effect “mwah” in it which makes you think of lips moving. It is also very relevant and modern as the target audience for a lip balm product would be for young females. This video also shows how the lip product is for all ethnicities and anyone can use it which opens the target audience to a larger scale.
