Online Learning Packages
PGCE Programmes
In the PGCE Primary 5-11 Programme, there are Online Learning Packages. These have been written as stand-alone learning activities. They have been planned into the programme but can be completed at any time.
There have been comments by the students about ease of access to these packages and when they are meant to complete them. They are listed on the main NILE page under Learning Events.
PGCE Primary 5-11 ITTM003
The Online Learning Packages are designed to take between one and two hours to complete. A range of themes have been developed which are related to Learning Events and additional ones to ensure appropriate coverage of ITT topics.

Some of the Online Learning Packages are simply a set of activities which can be completed independently. This is an example – Learning Theories.

Pedagogic approaches Opening task – summarise what you already know about behaviourism and social constructivism. Check your understanding of behaviourism and social constructivism and learn about cognitive theory here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gkzLAz25KPI . Make a mind map of the key features of each theory, using this source and others that you identify. Reflect on your experience as a learner: did any of these theories feature in your experience. Describe this. Access the following and interrogate the theories mentioned and at least two othershttp://cmapspublic3.ihmc.us/rid=1LGVGJY66-CCD5CZ-12G3/Learning%20Theory.cmap

There are two M level modules for the PG students. In this module, called Professional Studies, there are also Learning Events and Online Learning Packages. Some of the Online Learning Packages are a set of instructions and others have embedded the use of technology.
Online Learning – Supporting EAL - This e-activity uses ThingLink and a video to promote thinking and learning.

Online Learning - Leadership.
This package uses a range of different activities to engage the student.
The students are not all engaging with the online learning packages in the PGCE programmes. The questionnaire issued in December 2015 also identifies that these have not been as effective in terms of engaging, learning or accessibility.
