BCI Special Investigations Unit (SIU) and Crime Scene were requested. Details: Agent Kaufman arrived at 208 Mainstreet at approximately 1600 to be greeted by the two first officers on scene, Officer Smith and Officer Jones. Officers Smith and Jones explained briefly the incident that had previously occurred. On March 11, 2016 at 1530, officers were dispatched to 208 Mainstreet for reported homicide. Officers Smith and Jones located a deceased white male subject with apparent gunshot wound to his head, covered in blood. Officers Smith and Jones identified the victim as Mr. Petey, DOB 1/1/1980, SSN 111-11- 1111. No witnesses to the incident were found to be on scene. Officers Smith and Jones explained that after securing the scene, the victim was found in the master bedroom slumped over in a pool of blood. Upon searching the home blood trailed from the garage into the master bedroom. After entering the bedroom, a .22-caliber rifle was located next to the bed where the victim was lying. Summary:

On March 11, 2016 at approximately 1550 Agent Kaufman was contacted by the Pawnee Police Department for assistance with a possible homicide investigation. BCI Special Investigations Unit (SIU) and Crime Scene were requested.

Details:

Agent Kaufman arrived at 208 Mainstreet at approximately 1600 to be greeted by the two first officers on scene, Officer Smith and Officer Jones. Officers Smith and Jones explained briefly the incident that had previously occurred.

Crime Scene Examination and Processing

Upon arriving to the home of deceased Mr. Petey at 1600, the scene was secured by Officers Smith and Jones.

The wife of Mr. Petey and his two children, thirteen-year-old daughter and eighteen-year-old son, were all found in the driveway outside of the residence. The home is a white ranch style structure with black shutters and a red door. To the left of the door the numbers “208” are present.

At 16:15 Agent Kaufman taped off the scene while Officers Smith and Jones took down the name of the three people found in the driveway of the residence and the names of other investigative members entering and exiting the scene. Agent Kaufman made note that it was dusk, partly windy and around 70 degrees. Also, at this time, Agent Burt Macklin photographed the exterior of the home.

Once the scene was taped off, Agent Kaufman entered the scene by through the garage to begin taking photographs of all evidence at 16:45.

16:48 evidence photography ended.

At 16:52 until 16:59 Agent Kaufman and assisting Officers Smith and Jones walked the home one more time to ensure any unusual things were noted.

17:10 yellow evidence placards were laid down next to evidence, photographs were taken at 17:13.

17:15 .22mm casing was found near below the weight bench in the garage.

17:25 Agent Kaufman and assisting Officers Smith and Jones entered the home once again to begin actual evidence collection.

17:26 Agent Kaufman was able to obtain information from Trinity the thirteen-year-old daughter who confirmed that she was the only person in the home upon finding her deceased father. She explained the mother arrived shortly after. The brother did not arrive until after the police were called.

17:30 Mr. Petey was placed into a body bag and taken for the autopsy.

17:32 Witness photography began and ended at 17:38.
