1.4 SUBMITTALS

A. Submit under provisions of Section 01300.

B. Product Data: Manufacturer's data sheets on each product to be used, including:1. Preparation instructions and recommendations.2. Storage and handling requirements and recommendations.

C. Installation Instructions: Submit manufacturer's installation instructions.

D. Shop Drawings: Indicate door and frame elevations, anchor types and closure methods, finishes, location of cut-outs for hardware and cut outs for glazing.

E. Test Data: Submit test data indicating compliance with the performance requirements. Include laboratory name, test report number, and date of test.

1.5 QUALITY ASSURANCE

A. Manufacturer Qualifications: Minimum 5 years documented experience manufacturing acoustic steel door and frame assemblies.1. Perform work to requirements of HMMA (Hollow Metal Manufacturers Association)

standards.2. Perform work to requirements of CSDMA (Canadian Steel Door Manufacturers

Association) standards.3. Perform work to requirements of WDMA (Window and Door Manufacturers

Association) standards.

B. Installer Qualifications: Familiar with assemblies, manufacturer's installation requirements and installation of site installed components to attain performance level.

C. Test Laboratory Qualifications: Certification for testing laboratory qualified under the National Voluntary Accreditation Program (NVLAP) of the U.S. Bureau of Standards.

D. Pre-installation Meeting: Convene a pre-installation meeting two weeks before start of installation of door and frame assemblies. Require attendance of parties directly affecting work of this section, including contractor, architect, installer, and manufacturer's representative. Review installation and coordination with other work.

1.6 DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING

A. Deliver, store and handle materials and products in strict compliance with manufacturer's instructions and recommendations and industry standards.1. Comply with WDMA I.S. 1A for wood doors. Store doors between 50 to 90 degrees F

(10 to 32 degrees C) and 25 to 55 percent relative humidity.2. Comply with HMMA 840 for steel doors and frames.3. Weld minimum two temporary jamb spreaders per frame prior to shipment.4. Remove doors and frames from wrappings or coverings upon receipt on site and

inspect for damage.

B. Store products in manufacturer's labeled packaging after inspection until ready for installation. Protect from damage.

1. Store doors in horizontal position, frames in vertical position, spaced with blocking to permit air circulation between components.

2. Store materials out of water and covered to protect from damage.3. Clean and touch up scratches or disfigurement caused by shipping or handling with

zinc-rich primer.

1.7 PROJECT CONDITIONS

A. Maintain environmental conditions (temperature, humidity, and ventilation) within limits recommended by manufacturer for optimum results. Do not install products under environmental conditions outside manufacturer's absolute limits.

1.8 WARRANTY

A. Manufacturer's Limited Warranty: Five years from date of supply, covering material and workmanship.

J. Threshold: Coordinated with door bottoms. Smooth and flush, to provide a seal for door in closed position and maintain rating as required.

K. Astragal: To be supplied loose ready for field assembly.

2.3 FINISHES

2.4 ACOUSTIC STEEL DOORS AND FRAMES

A. Acoustic Steel Doors and Frames as manufactured by AMBICO LIMITED.1. Acoustic Performance: Minimum Sound Transmission Class (STC) as scheduled

tested to ASTM E90. Label indicating sound transmission class shall be applied to the door and door frame.

B. Hinges: Cam lift type by section 08710.

C. Hinges: Heavy weight butt type by section 08710.

D. Perimeter and Bottom Acoustic Seals: To provide a seal for door in closed position.

E. Acoustic Hollow Metal Steel Doors and Panels:1. Sheet steel faces, thickness, design, and core suitable to achieve specified STC

performance.2. Acoustic core construction, longitudinal edges, mechanically inter-locked with visible

PART 3 EXECUTION

3.1 EXAMINATION AND PREPARATION

A. Clean surfaces thoroughly prior to installation. Prepare substrates using the methods recommended by the manufacturer for achieving best result for the substrates under project conditions.

B. Do not proceed with installation until substrates have been prepared using the methods recommended by the manufacturer and deviations from manufacturer's recommended tolerances are corrected. Commencement of installation constitutes acceptance of conditions.

C. If preparation is the responsibility of another installer, notify Architect in writing of deviations from manufacturer's recommended installation tolerances and conditions.

3.2 INSTALLATION

A. Install in accordance with manufacturer's instructions.

B. Installed Door and Frame Assembly: Conform to ANSI/ICC A117.1.

C. Install steel doors and frames to HMMA 840 standards.

D. Install steel doors and frames to CSDMA standards.

E. Install wood doors and frames to ANSI/WDMA IS 1A standards.

F. Install door and frame assembly to conform to NFPA 80 and UL 10C as required for fire rated class as scheduled and indicated on Drawings. Label indicating fire resistance shall be applied to the door and door frame.

G. Utilize certified welders for field welding.

H. Coordinate with wall construction for anchor placement.

I. Set frames plumb, square, level and at correct elevation.

J. Allow for deflection to ensure that structural loads are not transmitted to frame.

K. Adjust operable parts for correct clearances and function.

L. Finish paint in accordance with Section 09910.

3.3 ERECTION TOLERANCES

A. Installation tolerances of installed frame for squareness, alignment, twist and plumbness are to be no more than plus or minus 1/16 inch (1.5 mm) in compliance with HMMA 841.

B. Installation tolerances of installed frame for squareness, alignment, twist and plumbness are to be no more than plus or minus 1/32 inch (0.8 mm).

3.4 PROTECTION

A. Protect installed products until completion of project.

B. Touch-up, repair or replace damaged products before Substantial Completion.
