A Northern NSW Community Engagement Advisory Council CEAC Meeting was held on the 27 June 2016.

The key workshop focus as identified at the last CEAC Meeting was a panel session relating to information and consultation around a number of related issues including transfer of care, discharge planning, and clinical handover from hospital to community, electronic health records and Personal Controlled Electronic Health Record. Panel members were: Kevin Gunn Ehealth Implementation Manager NNSWLHD, Timothy Marsh Senior Project Co-ordinator, Integrated Care Program NNSWLHD and Manpreet Kooner General Practice Support North Coast Primary Health Network (NCPHN).

Discussion and feedback included: Patient consent / ability for clinicians to access and share information / Security of information from the patients perspective / Patient Journey and Integrated Care / Medication Management / Access to medical information and history / Importance of timely discharge summaries and importance for patients to receive a copy of their own discharge summary.

Request from the workshop was for any information relating to any possible linkages to the My Aged Care Record and National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) to be provided to the next meeting.

CEAC agreed the key workshop focus for the September CEAC meeting would continue of the themes of Transfer of Care, Discharge Planning and Electronic Medical Records with request for speakers from the perspectives of Ambulance Care Plan, Hospital Discharge Planning and GP.

Wayne Jones NNSWLHD attended his first CEAC meeting as Chief Executive; he provided a brief update of NNSWLHD and spoke about his objectives for constructive and open engagement with Community and Clinicians.

An annual election of Chair was undertaken with Carolyn Byrne from Kingscliff being re-elected.
