The Agriscience Research - Integrated Systems Proficiency is sponsored by Vivayic Inc. Kayla’s research has been in natural resources. Kayla began in 2016 studying the diet of a black bullhead fish. She then explored the growth of chlorella phytoplankton with the use of different fertilizers along with the effects of pH on the hatching of rainbow trout eggs. Kayla accepted an internship with the UW-Green Bay Aquatic Ecology and Fisheries Lab. There she aided in data collection and analysis of habitat work on streams to invasive species in the Fox River. Kayla also partnered with the Junior Fisheries Biology Hutton Program run by the American Fisheries Society. Throughout her SAE, Kayla learned the challenges of estimating the time it takes to complete an experiment. Kayla’s greatest achievement has been in connecting with and learning from local and statewide biologists. Kayla’s advisors are Kaleb Santy, Cedric Pettis and Terry Erdmann. We would like to recognize the state finalists in AgriScience
