“THE FIRST ADVENTURE”

FADE IN:

SCENE ONE “THE LETTER” - [EXODUS CENTRE/JESSICA’S WORK] – DAY

[ACTION]

Jessica is working at her desk one evening. Her work colleague is going home at the end of the day.

CLODAGH

Jessica, I’m going to head on here, I’ll see you in the morning.

JESSICA

See you later

CLODAGH

Someone left this in for you earlier, I didn’t recognise who it was.

JESSICA

(Jessica looks at the letter confused)

Clodagh walks out the door into the dark evening.

JESSICA

I recognise the handwriting

(she doesn’t open it and sets it on the table,

walks over to the chair and starts working)

Jessica tries to do some work, but can’t concentrate as because she can’t stop thinking about what is in the note. So she opens it and reads it.

JUSTIN [V.O]

Hi Jessica…If you are reading this, it means that I have gone and

today is the 5-year anniversary of my death. I suspect you will

have all gone your separate ways by now…I have chosen you,

Jessica…To get the gang back together, you know where…

Enjoy the Adventure…Justin.

JESSICA

Is this some sick joke?!

(crumples it up, throws it and tries to continue

her work)

Jessica tries to work but opens her computer she is working at and looks at old photos of her and her friends with Justin. Picks up the letter and un-crumples it.Jessica lifts her phone again and sends out a group text to Skye and Brian.Text reads – “Hi guys, meet me in our place tomorrow at noon. I will explain all when you get

there.”

Camera cuts to Skye walking on the street.

SKYE

(picks up phone and looks at the text surprised

but texts back)

Text reads –“missed you too! See you then xx”

BRIAN

(sitting on a bench. He replies straight away.)

Text reads – “See you tomorrow”

FADE OUT:

SCENE TWO “THE MEETING” – [CHURCH TOWER] – DAY

Jessica walks up to the church door. Tries to open but it is stuck, then pulls in and it swings open. Closes the door gently behind her. Looks around taking in the familiar environment and walks up the stairs. She comes to an open door at the top of the stairs, she stops for a second and walks in.

JESSICA

(brushes dust off an old chair and sits down)

SKYE

Outside Skye is looking for a way into the abandoned church. (stops look up to the tower)

BRIAN

Where do you think your doing?!

SKYE

(jumps and looks around scared)

BRIAN!

(gives Brian a hug)

BRIAN

I thought I was late. Come on!

Brian and Skye walk up to the large church door.

JESSICA

(lifts out the note and looks at it)

SKYE

What you got there?

JESSICA

(gets up and hugs Skye)

Oh that’s nothing. How are you?!

They all talk for a while reminiscing about the past.

SKYE

(in a calming voice)

Jessica, why did you bring us here? We haven’t been here in so

long!

JESSICA

Well, we have shared so many memories here.

BRIAN

Yea, like the time when Skye fell from the hole.

(they all laugh)

SKYE

(talking to Brian)

Or the time you got stuck in the wardrobe!

(Skye opens the wardrobe and sees a sheet of

paper and looks at it in shock)

JESSICA

What’s that?

SKYE

It’s his list…

They all gather round the and look at the note in silence.

BRIAN

I can’t believe its been five years

JESSICA

Feels like it was yesterday…

SKYE

Look, he didn’t even get to finish it

JESSICA

Lets finish it for him

SKYE

What?!

JESSICA

There is only one left…we could do it…like a final send off

BRIAN

But all it says is ‘waterfall’, I mean… that could mean anything!

SKYE

He did mention about a waterfall a few times

JESSICA

What are those numbers?

BRIAN

Coordinates maybe?

SKYE

I think you might be right

JESSICA

We should go tomorrow!

BRIAN

Lets do it!

They continue to talk while the camera pans out.

FADE OUT:

SCENE THREE “THE ADVENTURE” – [THE CAR] – DAY

Car is driving down a road, the friends are having a conversation about which way to go.

SKYE

Jessica, I think we should have taken a right

JESSICA

Where does the map say we should go Brian?

BRIAN

What map?

JESSICA

On your phone?

(looks round at Brian)

When was the last time you looked at the directions?

BRIAN

About 15 minutes ago?

JESSICA

Brian! You’re supposed to be directing us!

BRIAN

I thought you knew where you were going

JESSICA

No, that is why you were looking at the map

SKYE

Guys, stop! I recognised this place! Pull in here!

The car pulls in and Skye gets out of the car, and the others follow.

SKYE

(whispers to herself)

What is it about this place?

BRIAN

This isn’t far from where the coordinates say we should go.

JESSICA

Lets go then!

The group of friends follow the track that leads them into the forest. They walk around the forest looking at their phones and discus what ways they should go.

SCENE FOUR “THE DISCOVERY” – [NESS WOODS] – DAY

The friends reach a bridge that stretches across the small stream. Under the bridge, there is small waterfall (if it could be called that).

SKYE

Is this it?

BRIAN

Well the coordinates say that its here

JESSICA

This couldn’t be it…this is not a waterfall.

(kicks the fence out of anger)

SKYE

(puts her hand on Jessica’s back)

BRIAN

GUYS, OVER HERE! I see something!

Skye gets up to follow Brian, while Jessica composes herself. Jessica lifts out a picture of her and Justin and puts it back in her pocket.

SKYE

Jessica, you coming?

JESSICA

Yea I’m coming.

The three friends follow Brian off the track over rocks. They reach the waterfall and all stand at its base in silence, not a word is spoken until they get back to the car. All their memories with Justin flood back. Jessica lifts the picture of her and Justin from her pocket and places it in the water.

LO3 Evaluate a production plan for the management of a project

PLANNING:

Target: Have the script completed for the new year, so filming can begin in January Filming to be complete by the end of February so we can begin editing in March Editing to be completed by the 18th March, and ready to be submitted

Locations: Exodus centre for the office and the meeting point Ness Woods for the adventure to the waterfall

Location Scouting:We looked at multiple different filming locations, such as St. Columb’s, and other forests around the Ness Woods, such as Ervey Woods and Brackfield Wood. For the indoor filming location, we knew that we wanted to film at the exodus centre because it was easily accessed and it has a few good locations for filming.

Notice of Filming:We notified Exodus that we will be filming on their location between the dates specified, and we did not need to notify the Ness Woods to say when we would be filming.

Vendors:Vendors hire out film equipment or props that would be to expensive for you to buy, for example cranes or trucks. We did not require any expensive equipment and therefore we didn’t not require a film vendor.

Location Catering: For Catering at the Waterfall location we went to Tesco and got some sandwiches and other snacks for the crew and the cast:

Health and Safety:Both the sites we are filming on have been tested to make sure they are safe and there is no risk of injury when working at these sights. We have been to both locations many times so we are well equipped with everything we need when going to these locations, for example at the waterfall all the crew is aware of the appropriate footwear and clothing to wear, they are also aware of were to walk and not to go to close to the waters edge. For the Exodus centre all the filming locations have been checked and tested to make sure they are safe and all the crew is aware of were to go and were not to go.

Insurance:We are covered for the Exodus Centre as they have insurance, and we have checked with them with what that includes and were it cover us for.

SCHEDULING:

Booking Equipment and Studios:All the equipment we are using for the film is our own, so we did not need to borrow any equipment from the tech or any other companies, we also didn’t require any studios so we didn’t have to book any were in order for us to film.

Budgeting: We have a strict budget for this film, however as we had all our own cameras and mics, we will not need to hire out any equipment. The only expenses we will have will be in fuel to get to the filming location and to transport the actors and for the food on the full day of filming.

Private Investment:Private investment is money invested by companies, financial organizations, or other investors, rather than by a government: Research should be based on a partnership of public and private investment a private investment company/firm/group. We did not need any private investment as our expenses were very little and we were able to cover them ourselves

Studio Funding: Studio Funding is when another studio helps to fund your production. We will not require any funding from any other studios in order to make this film.

Product Placement:Product placement, also known as embedded marketing, is a marketing technique where references to specific brands or products are incorporated into another work, such as a film or television program, with specific promotional intent. There will be no products on display within our film that will be used to promote a product or brand.
