When you Reach Me Book ReviewsUsing Google, search for book reviews on When You Reach me by Rebecca Stead. Find a review and read it. After reading it, write a short reflection on what you thought about the book review (half a page in length) in your English book.
The Statue of LibertyOn our class blog, find your way to the Literacy Term 2 page. Watch the video about the Statue of Liberty. Write down 10 interesting facts. Share them with Mr Welham and post them onto your blog.
Free and FairRead the information on the worksheet titled Free and Fair. It contains information about making elections and voting free and fair to everyone. After reading, see Mr Welham and get a copy of What makes an election free and fair. On a blank piece of paper, turn it landscape and fold in half. Then write What makes an election free and fair across the top. Label the first column Fair and the second column Unfair. Cut and glue pictures that belong in the appropriate column.

Manhattan SchoolingUse the sheet Manhattan Schooling to complete the following activity. Imagine that it is your first day at your new school in Manhattan (New York). Look at the picture below and write some feelings you would have, then write a sizzling start about going to the school for the first time.
Things to do in New YorkWith a partner, research 10 things you want to do if you got the chance to go to New York. While you research, write a list of the things you would like to do as well as give a brief explanation as to why you and your partner would like to do that thing.
School LeaderImagine that your school is looking for a new school captain. You are to prepare a speech that goes for no more than 2 minutes. Your speech must talk about why students should vote for you, what qualities you have as a leader and what action you will take at school to be an effective leader.

AirPano ManhattanGo to our Literacy page on the class blog and find the section titled AirPano Manhattan and look at the different views of Manhattan in New York by clicking on the web link. In your English books, write the title AirPano Manhattan and make two columns (fold page in half in you wish). Label one column nouns and the other adjectives. In nouns, list all the different things you can see from above Manhattan. In adjectives, list words that you would use to describe the experience of hovering above Manhattan.
States of AmericaComplete the worksheet ‘States of America’ by using a tablet or computer to research where the states of America are on a map.Bonus Points: Locate and label New York city.
Make your own ballot paper.Google what a ballot paper looks like in Australian elections. Choose no more than 8 friends from the class. Using Microsoft Word, see how close you can make a replica ballot paper like the official ones used in Australian Elections. You must include the names of your friends as the politicians. You may wish to make up Political Party names for them or ask them to come up with their own.Once you have finished, save your documents as a PDF. Then have a go at converting your PDF document to an image using www.smallpdf.com and post the final image onto your blog.

Time Travel EvidenceOn our Literacy page found on our class blog, there is a video about time travel. Watch it with a partner. After you have finished, you are to both write a post on your blog describing if you think the information in the video was real and whether you think time travel is possible. If it was, where would you travel to and what time period (past or future?).
New York Sports TeamsGo to ABC Splash and search for New York: the city that never sleeps and watch the video. In this video, there is a sports team. New York has many sports teams. w head to our literacy term 2 page on the class blog and complete the activity titled New York Sports Teams.
