APPLICATION FOR EMPANELMENT OF CONSULTANTS /ENVIRONMENTALISTS FOR INSPECTION / MONITORING ENVIRONMENTAL PERFORMANCE OF PULP AND PAPER MILLS
The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) in consultation with Industry and all other connected technical bodies formulated a charter for Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1974 and Section 18(1)(b) of the Air (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1981 regarding implementation of “Charter for Water Recycling and Pollution prevention in Pulp & Paper Industry for implementation by Pollution Control Boards and Industry directing that the 17 categories of highly polluting industries of which, it is need less to mention paper industry is one of the 17 categories of highly polluting industries and in order to reduce the pollution and maintain the standards as stipulated by the state as well as Central Pollution Control Board. The charter has been put in operation. The charter is already functioning in the river Ganga basin and work has started in right earnest in some states and other states are to follow soon. The details of this charter can be seen in the site.
In order to implement the charter, IARPMA is one of the 3rd parties selected for overseeing / co-ordinating the activities for the implementation of the charter. In this regard IARPMA propose to empanel consultant / environmental engineers / environmental auditors for inspecting / monitoring of environmental performance of pulp and paper mills of River Ganga basin states as well as other areas of the country. Organizations / individuals experience in this field would be preferred and the cost / charges would be on engagement basis and would be mutually decided. The consultant so empanelled would be required to study the pollution control systems, technologies as well as process technologies to maintain the required and prescribed standards of pollution as per the norms contained in the charter.
