We have already learnt that to show that something belongs to someone we put an apostrophe at the end of a word and add s.

For a plural noun that already ends in the letter s, we just add the apostrophe.

e.g. the girls’ drinks my parents’ car the animals’ habitat

If the plural noun does not end in s, such as children or people, then we add the apostrophe and the letter s.

e.g. the children’s game the people’s city the crowd’s cheering

Go around your house and write a sentence about objects that belong to people of things in your house. Remember to use the possessive apostrophe correctly to show belonging.

Here are some that I did around my house.

The car’s wheels are very muddy.

Theo’s toys are all over the floor.

The neighbours’ lawnmower is very noisy.
