PARTS OF THE COMPUTERWe have different parts in our body to do different activities, similarly, a computer also has

many parts to do different things.

1. TYPES OF MONITOR

Monitor is also called Visual Display Unit (VDU). The images that we on a monitors are made up

of tiny dots called pixels. It displays everything we do on a

computer like typing words and numbers ,and making pictures,

tables, graphs and charts. We can even watch a film or a cartoon

on a monitor. There are three types of monitors.

(i)CRT MONITOR (CATHODE RAY TUBE) :- The CRT monitor

is big like a television and is not expensive .It is very heavy and

occupies lot of space .This monitor rarely is use now.

CRT MONITOR

(ii) LCD MONITOR (LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY):- The LCD

monitor

is not big in size . It save energy but is costlier than a CRT monitor.

It is not very heavy and occupies less space. The pictures on it are

LCD MONITOR cleaner than on CRT monitor.

(iii)LED MONITOR (LIGHT EMITTING DIODE):- It is not big in size, not very heavy and

occupies less space . The pictures on it are

cleaners than on LCD and CRT monitors.

2. TYPES OF PRINTER

Printer help us to take prints of text and pictures on paper

through the printer and prepare a permanent document. A

printout on the paper is also called a hard copy. There are

mainly three types of printers on the basis of print method or

print technology which are very popular nowadays.

(i) DOT MATRIX PRINTER:-Dot Matrix Printers work like a typewriter . The Printer head striker the paper and the ink

ribbon to print character. It is also called the impact printer.

This printers is slow and noisy but economical, reliable and

durable. DOT MATRIX PRINTER

(ii)LASER PRINTER:-Laser Printers are also non-impact

printers that use Laser become to print on paper .These

printers are much faster than inkjet. Printers and the print

quality is much superior.

LASER PRINTER

(iii)INKJET PRINTER:-Inkjet printer is called non- impact printers

because there is no contact between the printer head and the

paper, Printing is done line by line by spraying ink on a sheet of

Page 13:  · Web viewDevices (Input, Processing and Output) FUN WITH MICROSOFT PAINT (PAGE 28 TO 36) How to O pen MS Paint Part s of the Paint Window Selecting the Drawing Some Important Tools

paper. These printers are much faster than the dot matrix

printers. They are more expensive and consume more ink. Ink

cartridges are used in inkjet printers.
