Supervised Undergraduate Students; A) Plant Design;

PART I:

In this course students use most of their knowledge which they acquired during four years of study and apply it in a full engineering project.

For students, it is a first step to take responsibility as an Engineer.

The course strategy is to make students focus on self-learning, library and information search, team work and discussion, engineering report writing and oral presentation.

Students have to learn how to make an initial start in the plant design through a series of activities (i.e. analysis, data collection, etc.), learn how to apply observations to a basic design.

Students will collect data, select process, carrying material and energy balance and economic analysis.Students will work in a team and report individually.

PART II:Students will continue to use data acuquired in the plant design I, and apply it in full Part II. Students will use data from plant design I to; design two main equipment’s, select control system and carrying cost estimation. Select side location and prepare layout design for plant and equipment’s layout.

This course is designed to help students with very little or no research background to learn the basics of investigating simple industrial problem and know how to solve it. This is a mini industrial project. The primary method for understanding problem is to use lab facilities to analyses and computer, if need, to calculate data then to make their own conclusion. When students finish the course, they will be close to making a decision, ready to continue their education for post graduate degree and to be on step to be professional engineers.
