Call to Worship

Make a joyful noise to the Lord and worship Him with gladness. Let us come into His presence with singing. Know that the Lord is God. It is He that made us, and we are His. We are His people and the sheep of His pasture. Enter His gates with thanksgiving! Give thanks to Him and bless His holy name, Amen.

God’s Word

Exodus 19:2-8a

2 After they set out from Rephidim, they entered the Desert of Sinai, and Israel camped there in the desert in front of the mountain. 3 Then Moses went up to God, and the LORD called to him from the mountain and said, “This is what you are to say to the descendants of Jacob and what you are to tell the people of Israel: 4 ‘You yourselves have seen what I did to Egypt, and how I carried you on eagles’ wings and brought you to myself. 5 Now if you obey me fully and keep my covenant, then out of all nations you will be my treasured possession. Although the whole earth is mine, 6 you will be for me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.’ These are the words you are to speak to the Israelites.” 7 So Moses went back and summoned the elders of the people and set before them all the words the LORD had commanded him to speak. 8 The people all responded together, “We will do everything the LORD has said.”

Romans 7:14-25a

14 We know that the law is spiritual; but I am unspiritual, sold as a slave to sin. 15 I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do.  16 And if I do what I do not want to do, I agree that the law is good. 17 As it is, it is no longer I myself who do it, but it is sin living in me. 18 For I know that good itself does not dwell in me, that is, in my sinful nature. For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out.  19 For I do not do the good I want to do, but the evil I do not want to do—this I keep on doing. 20 Now if I do what I do not want to do, it is no longer I who do it, but it is sin living in me that does it. 21 So I find this law at work: Although I want to do good, evil is right there with me. 22 For in my inner being I delight in God’s law; 23 but I see another law at work in me, waging war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of the law of sin at work within me. 24 What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body that is subject to death? 25 Thanks be to God, who delivers me through Jesus Christ our Lord!

Gathering Prayer

O Lord, since we are justified by faith, we have peace with You through our Lord Jesus Christ. Through whom we have obtained access to this grace in which we stand, and we boast in our hope of sharing Your glory. For while we were still weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly. You prove Your love for us in this: that while we were still sinners Christ died for us, Amen.

Apostles’ Creed: Our Statement of Faith

I believe in God the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried. He descended into hell. The third day He arose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence He shall come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit; the one holy universal Christian church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting, Amen.

With salvation's walls surrounded, thou may'st smile at all thy foes.

See the streams of living waters, springing from eternal love, well supply thy sons and daughters, and all fear of want remove;who can faint while such a riverever flows their thirst t'assuage?Grace, which like the Lord, the giver, never fails from age to age.

Round each habitation hov'ring, see the cloud and fire appearfor a glory and a cov'ring, showing that the Lord is near;thus deriving from their bannerlight by night and shade by day, safe they feed upon the mannawhich he gives them when they pray.

Blest constituents of Zion,Washed in the Redeemer’s bloodJesus, whom their souls rely on Makes them kings and priests of God‘Tis His love His people raisesOver self to reign as kingsAnd as priests, His worthy praisesEach his thankful offering brings

Lord’s Prayer

Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed by thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever, Amen.

We give you thanks, O God, because You have heard our voice and our supplications. You have inclined Your ear to us and we will call on You as long as we live. We will lift up the cup of salvation and call on the name of the Lord who hears us and gives us life, Amen.
