Chicken Run Faux Stained Glass Kit

This kit comes with:

Full Sized Pattern - 13 x 16One bottle white glueOne bottle clear glueAcrylic paints PaintbrushSharpie pen

You will need to supply (1 ea.) 13” x 16” or larger frame with glass. If frame is larger, simply add a colored border around your picture, or enlarge the pattern to fit.

1). Take your frame apart, setting the frame aside and lay your sheet of glass over your pattern.

2). Take your bottle of white glue and dump just a small bit out so that you have room to add color to it.  Then add about a ½ teaspoon of black acrylic paint and stir it up with a wooden dowel.  Add just enough black paint to make a solid color (you don’t want to thin the glue too much).  You will be surprised, but it doesn't take a ton of paint to change your white glue to black.

Then put the nozzle back on.  Your glue is now ready for the next step.

3). Carefully draw the glue onto the glass using the nozzle of the glue bottle, following the lines of your pattern.  Try not to have shaky hand syndrome like I do, but even if you do, it can be fixed later.  Once all your lines have been drawn in, allow it to sit overnight to dry completely.

4). Once it is dry, you can go over it with a craft blade and correct any shaky lines or errors.

5) For the next step, use a small muffin tin or small paper cups to mix up your colors.  Use about a tablespoon of clear glue to one or two drops of acrylic paint.  You will be surprised at how easy it is to add pigment to clear glue.

6). Use a paintbrush and add your colors using the number chart. Put the paint on thickly and be sure to get

your colored glue all the way up to the edges of the black lines.  Take your time and if you see any air bubbles in the glue, use a toothpick to pop them.

For a varigated marbled look, add a color to each side of a section and push them together with your brush, mixing them in the middle.  Allow this to dry overnight.

7). The final step is to do some touch-up with the sharpie pen on the leading where any color overlapped onto the black.

The finished piece of glass can then be put back into the frame and displayed in a windowsill or on the wall.
